This company is incredible! I had my roof completed in 2013. It is holding up wonderfully and still looks like new. Without question, the Gates brothers and the Gates Roofing Company in Ventura are the most honest and high quality outfit in the Ventura Co area. The work completed was of the highest quality and I was consulted and appraised through the whole process. Aside from those accolades, the price was very fair and they were always professional and pleasant. If you want a roofing outfit with a high quality result and folks with integrity, go with Gates Roofing. I stand by them 150%.

Shane Gates and his crew did an excellent job installing a new roof on a 2-story house. They were all very professional and friendly in spite of working during the hottest 3 days of the summer. Shane's bill was the same as his bid with no surprises and very reasonable. I would highly recommend him!

In 2018, Mr. Gates stopped at my house on the way from another job. He found the leak, and was able that afternoon to remove surrounding tiles, lay down new felt and repair the broken tile. On is recommendation, I waiting until after several rain storms to be certain and repaired he found the only leak, which he apparently did. He even unplugged my downspout while on the roof. Very fair price would definitely call again.

Replacing my roof was something that I had put off for a long time - but this WAS the time. I chose Gates because they were the only highly rated company that could deliver 1) An understandable and clearly written estimate and 2) Confirm/Schedule the work from the start - and stick 100% to their schedule. I had a gut feeling that I would be happy with their craftsmanship and e professional attitude.... But merely "happy" is an understatement. I am very impressed with my completed roof. They were in and out on schedule. They thoroughly cleaned everything up and the whole experience was a pleasure. Highly recommended!

Gates roofing did a awesome job! Professional, punctual, quality work, excellent cleanup and price! We will definelty use their services again if needed. Shane and his crew exemplify the definition of professionalism. Shane explains his process at the initial visit (there are no surprises), he helps you choose what is appropriate for your roof and home architecture, gives you supporting material so you can research the proper choice. Once contracted Shane gives you ample notice of when he and the crews will be out to do the "tear-off" and ensuing roofing. The guys protected everything including the inside of the garage with tarps and plastic. at the end of the day the errant pieces of roof area all picked up and the entire work area is blown clean. This process is completed each and every day he is there. My roof took a total of 8 days, including the extra tile boosting he did for us as well as some nice reclaimed wood under the gable. Throughout the job Shane contacted me through text (as he did not want to disturb my work day) with pictures and updates, not once did I have to call him. In addition to a clean, on time, on budget job, you get a crew that is enthusiastic , knowledgeable, and proud of their work product.

Long story short, I had a new roof put on back in May 2017, insurance claim. Roof work was shoddy, missing items, scope of work not completed and materials of sub par caliber. July 2017, in comes Gates Roofing to the rescue. From the very beginning, Shane Gates was honest and straight forward. Every single question was answered and even though we were very picky he took his time to answer all of our concerns. He even helped point out things that were done incorrectly from the previous roofer for future knowledge. Shane the owner, was there everyday and on time. His crew was awesome and very professional. He did a great job. It was a one man effort, so it took a couple of days, but I was very pleased. This work was done before the unusually rainy winter of 2016-2017. And I sure was glad I called them to do the job. On a side note, Shawn removed a couple of pigeons that were holed deep inside a crevice of our roof. And he the final cost came in under the estimate!

They were wonderful! They were punctual and they cleaned up after themselves. They were the nicest three guys; the owner (Shawn or Shane, I'm not sure what his name was-he has a twin brother) was there every day with the guys working on the roof with them. They went above and beyond, they did things they didn't have to do. They found a board with termite damage and replaced that for me. They helped put in skylights; they did stuff just because they could, they were super. They did things that weren't even on the bid, just as a favor. They were three of the nicest guys I've ever met. They submitted all the paper work, got the permits, and did everything they said they were going to do, and then went above and beyond. Their bid was great, and I have referred them to four other people! They were very personal, and you could see how much pride they took in their work. A different crew ripped off the roof and the owner came out to supervise them to make sure they did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

Shawn and his crew did a great job. Completed the work quickly and supplied pictures before, during, and after the job was done. Also cleaned out our gutters which were impacted with years of leaves. Cleaned up perfectly. Shawn is a very nice guy who has the perfect balance of personality, expertise, and execution. Overall, we were very pleased with the work and would highly recommend Gates Roofing.

We are very pleased that we selected Gates Roofing as our roofer. From start to finish Shane Gates' hard working crew always arrived punctually and was very professional.  Shane was always responsive to questions we had about the job and always took time to touch base with us in order to answers any questions that would come up. This was very much appreciated.
It took one day to remove two layers of existing roofing, replace all damaged wood, and install plywood sheeting.  All the windows and landscape were protected as the work progressed.  The clean-up was through and when the crew left, the outside area around the house looked the same as when the project was started.  There was no trash or other debris on the ground when the work was completed for the day.  This same standard of clean-up was followed throughout the entire project.  When the roof was ready for the installation of the shingles, the roofers once again arrived punctually and started working.  It took about 1.5 days to complete the shingle installation process.  The appearance of the completed roof looks great.  We are very pleased with the high quality of the work provided by Gates Roofing.  We definitely would contact Gates Roofing for any roofing needs that we might have in the future.

arrived on time, explained the problem, developed an hypothesis, then went to work.  Turns out he was not satisfied with original diagnosis and kept exploring and found three contributing factors that now appears to have solved the problem.  Would highly recommend Gates Roofing.  I am now ready for El Nino - Bring it.

We live in a condo and the neighbors wanted to do their roof at the same time.We looked at bids from a total of four roofers. Shane's bid wasn't the lowest but it was very detailed. He itemized all the work he would be doing and gave a longer warranty on the finished roof. We picked Shane because we were impressed with how quickly he responded to us and because we were confident that there would be no surprises after the work started. Shane and his crew showed up on time and cleaned up everyday when they were finished and they were pleasant and professional..He kept me informed every step of the way so I knew what to expect..While he was doing the roof he discovered termite damage and removed two old skylights that had been installed improperly and had leaked. I had picked up two new skylights to install but I got the wrong ones so Shane and the two young men that work for him spent their lunch hour taking them back to Home Depot. Shane did the repairs and installed the skylights for me. My neighbor and I are both really pleased with the new roof on our adjoining condos. It looks great! Shane and his crew did a terrific job, Shane went above and beyond what he agreed to do. I'm really happy that we selected Shane and Gates roofing to do the work!

My house came with the original wood shake roof built in the 1980s. I had wanted to repalce this for a while but could'nt do it as I was'nt happy with the roofers I had consulted in the past. In June of 2015, I called Shane and booked an appointment for him to come and check out my roof. He arrived on time, and went on my roof, did his measurements and gave me a quote. He was very knowledgable and explained to me about the type of roof, the underlayment etc. In the next few weeks that followed , he even brought me sample tiles to show what the new roof would like.  He was always available to take my calls when I had questions for him. For the next few weeks, I was comparing quotes from other roofers. Not only did Shane's quote come out  best and lowest, I was really impressed with how thorough he was in making me understand what the roof installation process would entail, how many days would it take etc. Needleness to say, I went with Shane. On day 1 of the installation his crew showed up on time and they were all very professional and dedicated. They finished the work according to their plan and did not go longer. There were no additional costs and Shane even replaced a few blocks of wood that had termite issues without additional charge.. Im very happy with his workmanship and my roof looks great. My neighbors and friends are asking me for Shane's contact becuase he did such a great job! I'd definitley recommend him for any type of roof work. You will be happy.

I have the highest recommendation for Shawn at Gates roofing.  Came out next day after contacting him give me a proposal.  Showed up right on time.  Gave me a good price for the work that was being done and told me he could start the job the next day.  What really impressed me is that Shawn is a perfectionist.  If he finds some other problems he fixes it.  Discovered some of the bead board also needed replacing so he replaced it.  Found some other areas on the roof need sealing so he fixed it. Shawn is not a fix and run type of guy.  Really took his time to do the job correctly so it would last.
