GARY HAMMOND-PIANO SVC

I had grave doubts as to the veracity of his assessment of the piano, since it had been rebuilt and completely reconditioned some years earlier.  He grudgingly agreed to tune it, but could not seem to correct a muffled "buzz" coming from the instrument.   After several subsequent visits, he ventured a guess that perhaps the felt on the hammers was worn or dry.  I lost patience and called in a second tuner for a look at the piano.  It took him all of five minutes to trace the "buzz" to three loose screws holding the hinge of the key cover to the body.  He examined the piano thoroughly, found it to be in excellent shape, re-tuned it (Gary had pitched it to A142 instead of the standard A140), and it now sounds as good as new. This is an excellent instrument.  Gary is either incompetent, dishonest, or both.   Don't let him past your front door.
