Grow Garden Design

A friend referred me to Alison as she had done a wonderful job on her back and front yards. She was very communicative on setting up the initial appointment and came to our property for a walkthrough. She did not want to step foot in the yard, preferring to stay "in the shade" and then brought over her "design books" that she wanted us to look through for inspiration. We tried explaining that we were looking for a proposal that included thoughts for her final design, and that we would need an estimated breakdown of costs. Without her actually taking a thorough look at our property (and the work involved) she threw out a number for the different costs for various yard projects. Once we were inside to discuss the project at length, she refused to do a finalized proposal and breakdown until we actually committed to her services. She did direct us to her website to showcase her design aesthetic, but we found her designs a little one dimensional and not really reflective of anyone's personality but her own. If you like her aesthetic, that's great -- she's a professional landscaper and would do a great job based on the pictures on her site and the examples of her work that I've seen firsthand. CHECK OUT HER WEBSITE PRIOR TO CONTACTING HER, and be ready to make a commitment to her services. Be ready for a hard sell, because she will pressure you to commit to her services before she will lift a finger to win your business (ie., conceptual proposal, mood board, breakdown of services, etc.,) At the end, the quality of her pitch and pricing strategy made us decide not to go with her services.
