In the beginning of 2010 the pool pump in my garage stopped working, and I bought a new Hayward Super Pump SP2610X15 (including the electric motor) through the internet. I hired Eric Kranzer to install the new pump. Eric came with another man who did all the work under Eric's supervision. After fiddling for 20-25 minutes with the electrical boxes, wires, and the pump Eric told me that the electric motor was not working and that I had to get a new motor. I cursed the internet shopping and bought a new motor. This took a few days, and we scheduled Eric's next visit for Friday, a week after the first visit. In between, after five days I discovered that Eric and his helper had disconnected my freezer in the garage. All the food had perished. Eric canceled the next appointment the prior evening and rescheduled it for Monday 11:00 AM. Monday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 I did some urgent shopping. When I returned at 10:00am I found Eric's business card. He had come two hours ahead of schedule and left for the day. After these two botched appointments I found a different help. After the new pump and motor were working properly I decided to find out what was wrong with the initial motor that I bought through the internet. I asked a colleague who routinely dealt with helium compressors for help. After studying the pump for a few minutes the colleague connected a 110V cable to the pump (this is the voltage in my garage), and the motor ran beautifully. So Eric as a licensed electrician declared a perfectly working electrical motor as defective. The whole experience cost me about $300 for the spoiled food and almost $300 for the new motor.
