Plaskoff Construction

Our home remodeling experience with Plaskoff Construction (Matt Plaskoff) was horrible, and only with the help of an excellent attorney were we able to correct the problems this contractor saddled us with.  First, after a complete repipe of our home we were left with many plumbing problems, among them:  1.  Banging noises after using hot water at upstairs sinks  2.  Rust and debris flowing from our new master bathroom tub  3.  Two water heaters in the basement were not plumbed correctly.  4.  Gas line for FAU left hanging in mid air in basement, approximately 3 foot section.  5.  Water heater vent was connected to vent riser with two openings.  One opening was left open under the house, allowing gas out under our house.  6.  Active sewer vent in wall capped on one end and left open on the other end.  7.  No isolators on water lines where they pass through the wood, causing expansion/contraction noise.  Fortunately for us, we found a fantastic plumbing company in Santa Monica, Gordons Plumbing, and their owner diagnosed  all of these problems and his company made all of the necessary repairs, all paid for by Plaskoff Construction.  We then hired an independent roofing company to inspect our new roof put on by Plaskoff Construction, and discovered that the roof was done without a permit and in violation of Santa Monica Building Codes because roof tiles were not nailed down.  The city of Santa Monica made Plaskoff Construction tear down the roof and redo it, again at Plaskoff Construction expense.  Lastly, Plaskoff's incompetent painters never sealed some areas of our new wood windows, leaving bare wood.  Some of these window sashes with bare wood therefore got water logged and had to be replaced after only a few years of use.  Fortunately for us, we were able to find excellent help to correct the problems Plaskoff Construction left us with, but it took a toll, was incredibly stressful and therefore we could never recommend Plaskoff Construction to anyone.   

The process could not have gone better. There were no hidden costs. The work was actually finished sooner than expected and the attitude of the builder was unparalleled. The finished home is absolutely stunning and something I am very proud of. I have since recommended Plaskoff Construction to several friends and they were also quite pleased. In a day and age when you always hear about the stress of building a home I am pleased to report there is at least one builder who can put your concerns to rest.

The overall project was wonderful from the beginning to the end. Although there were lots and lots of meetings and discussions, negotiations and intermittent changes, the overall experience was simply wonderful. Plaskoff was not cheap, not at all, but worth every penny. They were honest from the beginning and very clear about what this would take and cost. Our experience was as close to a "sleep-at-night" operation as one might expect given the sometimes uncontrollable variables of such a big project. Plaskoff may look expensive on the front end (and they are) however, as projected, we came in within a few percentage points of estimate. There was no last minute gouging, just honest dealings.
