We looked on Craig's List for a Carrera marble remnant measuring at least 41" x 44" for our remodeled bathroom vanity..Art Atlas of Cal-Stone advertised a "beautitiful piece of white Carrara Remnant." with a photo posted on Craig's List. We saw the posting on 5/29/12, called Art, told him what we needed and he told us to come to see it. On 5/30/12 when we arrived he told us that piece in the photo was sold but he steered us to another piece. He misrepresented the size of the new piece, telling us it was 41" x 45". We agreed to purchase this piece and gave Art a deposit of $200.00 cash. On 6/15/12 we went back to Cal Stone to see about pick-up of the piece. We asked his worker ( Art was not there) to measure the piece again as it did not look like the original piece Art showed us and it looked too small. When the worker measured it, the dimensions weren't the same - the piece was too small only measuring 43" x 39". The next day, 6/16/12, we called Art and left him a voicemail telling him the piece was too small for us and asking him to return our deposit. We followed up the voicemail with a letter mailed on 6/18/12 including a self-addressed stamped envelop asking for the return of our $200.00. After about 3 weeks of hearing nothing from Art Atlas, my husband went to Cal-Stone, saw Art and asked him why he had not returned the deposit. Art said "I mailed a check." but my husband noticed our self-addressed envelope on his desk. Art said he used his own envelope and sent the check when he received our letter. As weeks had passed since Art said he had sent the check, my husband asked Art to stop payment on that check and give him a new check. Art said he did not have any checks at his office and said he would send another check. It is now about 4 weeks after Art promised to send a new check and we have received nothing from him. Art Atlas of Cal Stone is a LIAR and a CHEAT.BUYERS BEWARE. We saw the same Craig's list posting with the same photo only 1 week ago! This business is not worthy to be listed on Angie's List.
