My husband and I went through Angie’s List to obtain a list of contractors for our kitchen remodel. At the time, we were still debating between a 100% gut job or a more minor remodel so we interviewed 3 possible candidates. Adam and his brother, Jonathan from A+1 Design and Remodeling came to our home and listened to our design wishes. What immediately impressed us was how Adam took my design ideas (which I obtained from watching many DIY shows) and improving the design for a better layout, adding storage space, and an island. Before selecting A+ Design and Remodeling firm, we discussed timelines, projected remodeling costs, as well as our mutual expectations his company would provide both during and after the remodel. We were surprised at the 3 month projected timeline which Adam assured us was the realistic average even if DIY shows showed 3 weeks! Demolition began in September which was bad timing on our part due to the many upcoming year-end holidays. There were some delays, although most of the work was accomplished in a timely manner. Every workman who showed up was highly professional at his job, they took extreme care to minimize the noise level and dust debris since I was working from home at the time. The workman communicated with us when they were returning if the job took more than 1 day to complete. They always cleaned up after themselves at the days end. Adam or Jonathan maintained contact with us when delays were experienced and kept us informed on the next stage of the work to be done. The project eventually took 4 ½ months to complete from start to finish. Adam’s vision of the entire kitchen project far exceeded our expectations due to the materials used, workmanship, and overall design. We are extremely pleased with the end result and have already referred A+1 Design to several people we know. Our own and friends reaction to the final result is the same, WOW!

My wife and I were incredibly impressed and more than satisfied by the work done by A+, and especially our experience with our project manager, Moshe. We were won over quickly by how appreciative they were of the historical details of our house and how committed they were with preserving or recreating them to maintain the character of our home. The project was to renovate our kitchen, turn a small half bathroom and laundry room into a large bathroom, and replace a carpeted floor with bamboo. My wife and I had never gone through a remodel before, but Moshe was an excellent resource and really helped us understand the process and lessen the disruption to our lives as much as possible, particularly by making sure that all major decisions were made before construction started, so we would not have to wait on making decisions or for appliances etc. to be delivered. Once the project started, Moshe came by our house nearly every day and was very available by phone or text if we ever had any questions or concerns. It also gave us the chance to check in with him every day so he could explain what was happening, the timeline of events, and to make sure no details were being missed and that the crew always understood what we were asking for. Working with Moshe was much more of a collaboration than I thought it would be, which was great because my wife and I were often asking for his recommendations when it came to most everything, whether it was choosing a ceiling fan, an appliance, or learning what brands make good cabinet handles. In addition, Moshe could also usually find us discounts on whatever we were buying from vendors he works with. My wife and I were on a pretty rigid schedule with a baby on the way. Moshe always kept our schedule in mind and worked hard to get our project done on time and make sure he was always communicating with us about everything to keep us from getting stressed out if we didn’t know what was going on. Once the actual work on the house began, the whole process only took 4 months, and all of our friends and neighbors are so impressed by it! Moshe was great managing all the workers coming to the house and we always felt very well cared for. Now that our project is over, my wife and I actually miss seeing him every day! We would definitely work with A+ and Moshe for any of our future construction/renovation needs and can’t recommend them highly enough. Their prices may be a little higher than some other contractors, but my wife and I definitely feel like the extra attention, communication, and professionalism we received was well worth it.

Could not have been better They are amazing. Adam and Moshe when over my needs and desires and submitted plans for the master bathroom. They were very creative and with slight modifications the project began. Moshe was in charge and his crew works as a great team. His artistic talent and desire to perform and excellent job resulted in such a fabulous result that I decided this team could transform a second bathroom plus other much need changes in the home. All the employees knew that they had to be able to pass the critical inspection of Moshe who was there daily. The truly had pride in their workmanship. The house upgrade them progressed to repiping. electrical panel upgrade, ventilation system redone and a new driveway. I knew I was dealing with the best possible crew and Moshe is an incredible supervisor and also a great person. The service was good because they are prompt and they are looking to the final details at one point that they needed to change everything but they make it quickly and the finishing is good and they take things to create the details.

Hiring a contractor is a process that is fraught with uncertainty for many homeowners. We have all heard stories of dishonest contractors who underperform on the work, overcharge on the price, mysteriously disappear for lengthy periods of time,and generally make life miserable. The first thing I have to say about Adam Simon and A Plus Design and Remodeling is that you will never have a question about his honesty and integrity. From the beginning, he was absolutely transparent about costs, and provided us a detailed breakdown laying out every step of the process and the costs that we would incur at every stage of the remodel. And as the work progressed, there were no deviations from the plan that he laid out at the beginning. That in itself should make you want to hire him, but there are many other reasons. Adam worked closely with us on the design of our project and provided valuable input on design and materials, that contributed enormously to the success of the finished project. He also spent many hours with us, helping us shop for appliances and fixtures even though he did not make any money by doing so. Similarly, when the project required hiring an outside party such as a cabinet maker, he remained fully involved in the process and helping us ***** the various factors which impact the cost of the cabinet work. The name of Adam's company is A Plus Design and Remodeling, not just A Plus Remodeling. This is an important distinction. Adam is completely project-oriented; not just job oriented. So when you hire him, understand that you are hiring someone who will guide and manage your entire project from start to finish....even the parts for which he is not directly responsible. Honesty, integrity, and professionalism. These are the reasons why you should hire Adam Simon.

Claudia took care of this right away. The contractor who came over was very considerate, especially considering that I have a two-year-old running around and constantly getting in the way, and he fixed our bathroom door so that it works perfectly! He was also super polite and professional. It was also very nice that he showed up wearing an A+ shirt, so that I knew right away that this was the correct person. With all the weird stuff going on these days you never can be too careful!

Sharon - what a nice guy! He arrived punctually. He spent an adequate amount of time reviewing my needs and wants and also had great suggestions. He allowed all of the time I needed for any and all questions - very informative! He was easy to talk with and I felt comfortable and at ease with him as soon as he arrived and began explaining the process we would go through for the quote as well as the process if I were to go through the remodeling process. Unfortunately the quote was more than I had planned and budgeted to spend so at this time I am not moving forward - not a reflection of the time spent or the quote.

A Plus Design came out and listened to what I needed. They provided a 3D design of both baths, which I thought was impossible based of amount of space they had to work with.
They actually shut off entry to hall and created door in my son"s room to facilitate private entry and thus a private masterbath.
they provided features to safety navigate bath/tub and provided bench and hand held show head in addition to standard shower head. There is literally a built in bench which one can sit and safely and comfortably bathe. There are appropriate bars to allow one to safely and easily exit tub/shower. Its beautiful.
The second shower is simply; gorgeous, rich wood look tile, with polished stones on floor of shower t provide safety as they are not slippery. Additionally, bench is completely covered with stones, again, to prevent slippery surface. Hand held shower head , in addition to standard shower head provides comfort and safety.
Cut outs for shampoo are easily accessible for anyone standing or sitting, which as a baby boomer, I'm sure I'll appreciate the added safety feature in the coming years

It was a pleasure to work with Adam. He found ways to make things happen. We had received three other bids, and one of those bidders said we could not have skylights installed while another said we could have skylights but not in the location we wanted nor the shape. Adam assured us it could be done as we requested and he confirmed specs with the manufacturer. He also verified with City Hall that we could have what we wanted. He pulled all the required permits and the job passed with flying colors.
Adam was excellent throughout the process. He was very professional and thorough with everything he did. In addition he made suggestions and was very patient with us. "Thank you for your review. I’m very surprised you feel this way about your bathroom remodel. We both know all the details that occurred in order to complete this project. I would like to explain step by step what occurred for all my future customers to know the details. First off, we do not have a B team we only have an A+ team. In your old bathroom you only had one sink and on the new vanity it has a double sink. We did not charge any extra to add an extra sink. After opening the wall we encountered a support beam behind the wall that wouldn’t let us pass any plumbing through it. Instead of making you return the vanity and buying a vanity with one sink, we called for an inspection to get the information on what could be done in order to stay up to code and still have two sinks. We both already knew ahead of time that we won’t pass the inspection. After re-piping the 2nd sink up to the city’s codes, through a support wall, without adding any payments to my customer and delaying the job, we still completed the bathroom according to the contract. The 2nd time we did not pass inspection was for a defective smoke detector in one of your rooms. I would like to note that the bathroom did not cost 20,000 it cost $13,800 and it was for all the rough, labor and installation of all finished material for your bathroom. All the finished materials where purchased by the customer directly to the supplier. We always recommend places that we work with to give extra discounts for my customers, but you will choose which store you want to work with. The store we recommended came out matching your budget the most and that’s why you purchased your material from them. If they were a higher price, you would have not purchased from them because you were on a budget. You cannot blame A Plus for 3rd party mistakes that has nothing to do with our company. If the tub was delayed 4 months or was of poor quality and cracked later on, that is what you decided to purchase. I’m sorry that you think the job was stalled. We promised you a complete designer bathroom within 21 labor days and we actually finished within 19 labor days including expert cleaning, all final inspections passed and all extra delays with the plumbing area that where caused by unknown framing behind the wall. I have all the completion forms, start dates and permit dates as proof to any customers that want to read them after seeing this review. If anyone would like to ask me any questions about this job, please call, Adam Ben Simon, at 714-305-6027. We strive for perfection but even though it’s a B rating, this still hurts me as if it were an F."

When you contact A Plus you're going to meet Adam, and you're going to be happy you did. Adam's energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and he immediately sets you at ease. His goal from the outset is to give you exactly what you're looking for and he'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
In our case, we were looking to do a major kitchen remodel. There were many things that made the job a particular challenge, but Adam was excited by the challenges. Prior to engaging Adam's services, I had spent an enormous amount of time designing the space, so I had a very clear idea of what needed to happen. Doors needed to be sealed off, and windows and walls removed, all while staying true to the original aesthetic of the home. Even though we knew what we wanted, Adam still threw out ideas that added to the final product and the custom cabinets he suggested are always a conversation piece.
In the lead up to beginning work Adam very clearly laid out a budget and schedule, which he reiterated time and again he was committed to sticking to--and did. Adam's forthrightness and integrity cannot be understated. He means what he says and that's important when things don't go according to plan. For example, Adam was indispensable in getting our job permitted. We removed some walls and exposed the underside of our staircase only to discover that the second floor was never permitted. Adam spent enormous time and effort to find a solution--and did.
During construction, his team did a great job of keeping the mess isolated in the kitchen (although they did damage the hardwood floor at the entrance). They worked swiftly in the early going, although I got the sense that no one ever read the mountains of installation documents for our appliances, and instead did things as though they were on auto pilot. For example, the plumbing for our under-counter washer/dryer need to be redone because they were put in too high and because the supply line went directly in front of where the dryer vent should be. They also put the water supply behind the refrigerator, but it's built-in so it needs to be accessible. In all these cases, Adam was on it and everything got fixed. It was just a bit annoying as it didn't need to be done wrong in the first place. I think I was a little too passive in the early going, and had I been more hands-on, we could have nipped a lot of this in the bud, but I didn't trust that I knew what I was looking at.
Finishing the space became a prolonged process. It took much longer than Adam expected, but we were never left wondering why. he always clearly explained what the holdup was, and always tried to do as much as he could. Once we got to the completed space, it was an amazing transformation. Adam went through personally making sure that any flaws were corrected, and has been by several times just to check in.
The net-net is that nothing ever goes completely according to plan, and nothing ever comes out exactly how you drew it up in your head. There are always problems and challenges, so you want a partner that meets them head on and creates solutions. You want a partner you can trust, and Adam (and A+) is that partner. I highly recommend him.

We hired Adam / A Plus Design & Remodeling for a bathroom renovation as well as some other floor/wall work. We obtained 4 different bids and A Plus was in the competitive range. We ultimately decided on Adam due to his design ideas (he offers great advice), attention to detail, and glowing recommendations. Adam and his crew did a great job and what we appreciate most is that they'll do the job right even if it means having to take a step or two back to fix it. We found Adam to be honest, extremely fair throughout and creative in solving any problems that came along. Communication was great and he always came by to make sure things were going well. We already have had two estimates before him and we knew the moment he walked-in that he was the man for the job or A Plus Design was. They were very professional. They gave us a 3D design first so that we knew exactly what we were getting and they just came through with exactly our vision for our bathroom. In my mind, I knew what I wanted, but they came through with something much grander. When I say beautiful, when I walk by there I would just think oh my God, I cannot believe this is my bathroom. He was so good in putting in what we wanted but going the extra mile. It looks like our own little spa. When he came in, he was a little bit more than the other two, but you get what you pay for. A Plus Design was who we wanted to go with because we knew that it would be done right and they would do exactly what we wanted. If it was not Adam that owns the company or it was his right-hand man, they were here if not every day, every other day. He called us at the end of the day and asked if we had any questions. He was there to answer anything for us anytime of the day. If they were not here, we can get a hold of them. I would recommend them to anybody. They are the best. They did clean up every single day and they were so professional. They ask us if they could come at 7:30 and they were here at 7:30. If they ask that they can come at 8, they were here at 8. They were very prompt. I would use them again in the future. They would be the ones I would call.
