The installers discovered that the electricians tape was missing from their tool chest, so they went to buy some. They were gone over half an hour. When they got back and started to install the new dishwasher, they informed me that the hoses could not be re-used (they were the perfect length), so they disconnected and discarded them, leaving a flood of water on the floor. They they discovered that the hoses in the installation kit I was forced to buy were too short to reach the sink, so they made another trip to the hardware store, this time for almost an hour. When they returned, they worked about 15 minutes and then left for a lunch break, about an hour. After their lunch break, they intalled the hoses to the supply and drain lines, and informed me that it would cost me about $100.00 for the modifications, which I paid by check. They then tackled the electrical connection and then realized that the plug that came with the installation kit wouldn't reach either. They said a receptacle would have to be installed behind the dishwasher, but couldn't do it because they weren't electricians. They then decided to switch the power supply to a circuit under the sink that was grounded, only to discover that the the electric cord was also too short. They were about to make a third trip to the hardware store to buy an extension cord, but I happened to have one on hand, which they used. When they left for the day, I had about 15 excess feet of supply hose, drain hose and electric cord coiled on the bottom of the cabinet under the sink, making it impossible to put away my cleaning supplies I called Best Buy the following day and got a royal runaround from their customer service people, only to ultimately be told that I needed to contact One Construction to resolve the problem. The person at One Construction who answered the phone said that the job was complete, but after arguing with her (probably screaming at this point), said she would send one of their "advanced" installers to look at it in about a week. When their "expert" arrived, he strapped up the surplus materials, then pulled out the dishwasher, said the old electrical connection had to go, and said that I could hire their electricians (at an estimated cost of about $1,000.00) to correctly re-wire. He then proceeded to remove the old wires, which came up through the floor. BIG MISTAKE!! Those wires were necessary for an electrician to pull new lines up from the source through conduit to a new receptacle. He left me with a "temporary fix", but I still cannot put away my cleaning supplies, and they are sitting in dishpans on my kitchen floor. I ran a full load of dishes a couple of days ago, and emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away. When I got up the he next morning, I discovered a flood that seemed to be about the size of Lake Huron covering my entire kitchen floor. The source is the dishwasher, and it leaked either because the hoses loosened, or because the dishwasher is not level. I am about to call an appliance repair service and pay money I cannot afford to get it done right, since I do not have an aging spinster aunt who will hand-wash dishes in exchange for room and board. I am thoroughly disgusted with both One Construction and Best Buy, and will never do business with either of them again.
Description of Work: One Construction is under contract with Best Buy to deliver and install large appliances. I purchased a diswasher from Best Buy and the sale price included free delivery and installation. At the time the delivery appointment was made, I informed them that my house was very old and did not conform the the latest codes, and that the dishwasher was at a 90 degree angle to the sink. They were also informed that the old dishwasher was hard wired rather than plugged into the electrical supply. The crew arrived on time, and were very polite. After they removed the old dishwasher, everything went downhill.
