His name is Art Durden. I had a birch that was in between my house and the house next door. I was worried that the winds will blow it down at one storm. I had another tree that was really close to the foundation. The thing about Art that's really cool is he has a permit with the city. he works for the city. He has contracted them for private homeowners. Technically in Vallejo, if you would have somebody work on the trees in your front yard, they like to call them right of way trees. They're city trees. You technically can't have somebody work on them without permit. He already has the permit. You don't have to go outside of what the city wants or somebody have to pay for them work on your trees. They're huge. He takes care of them really well. He's extremely reasonable. I've used him years ago. When I had the work done last year, I had a couple of people who gave me estimates , he came ion just over half of what one of the other guys had bid to do the work.

The tree would not thrive and it was 3 or 4 years since we picked the tree so I called and told them about the tree so they came, replaced it and didn't cost me a dime, so it was kind of cool.

Very excellent work by all involved.  The crew worked quickly and shredded all the branches and parts of the trees that they could with their chipper.  The larger parts were removed and the yard was clean of all debris when they left!

Talked with Art from EZ Tree Service, I was told he was going to come out and give me a quote to trim a 100 foot pine in my backyard on Tuesday the 4th, well he had to reschedule due to someone not showing up to work that day. So I rescheduled with him for Friday the 8th, I even took the day off so I could get this done. Once again Art was a no show, he told me he was going to stop by after 2pm, after not hearing from him at 4pm I decided to call him. I got another excuse on why he couldn't make it. Art told me he would call me back the following week to set up a day to come by, well I'm still waiting for that call. Don't waste your time calling.

We moved to Vallejo at the end of August, into a house with a mature garden and lots of trees. Art Durden and EZ Tree were referred to us by our real estate agent. EZ Tree is contracted by the City of Vallejo to take care of the City trees. We met with Art and walked through all of the trees here. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and had good advice. He worked up a quote and contract right away. We had to wait until the City contract work was finished, which turned out to be a few weeks later than we expected oandhoped. But Art and his crew were absolutely great to work with. They took out two trees including one that had been long dead and covered by an enormous climbing rose. They worked on 8 other trees including a huge old magnolia and an avocado that had dead limbs overhanging the sidewalk. The crew worked hard, asked questions when things were not clear and left us with a much healthier looking garden - also a lot of good firewood and chips which we had requested. The crew cleaned up along the way and left everything in great condition. They were not inexpensive. But considering the amount of work they did, it seemed reasonable. And the bill was exactly the amount of the quote. I'm very happy to recommend them.

I called Art at EZ Trees. He came over and gave me an estimate for the trees in my front yard. We talk about only going to have them trimmed. He explained that they were going to only get taller and could not be trimmed how I would like them to be. They were also filled with spiders and bees. (argh) They were close to and leaning on my fence and would soon become a problem. I made the decision to have them removed. It was the best and happiest decision I made. He adjusted the estimate. He said his crew could come out that afternoon to do the job. I said GREAT!  They came out a couple hours later.  They were so fast!   Art also removed a dead tree from my back yard, and, was nice enough to trim my other trees while he was there. They were polite, friendly, helpful and trimmed another front tree while they were there.  I also had them clear out some rose bushes while they were here. It was done all so quickly and cleanly.  I was very impressed!
I am very happy that my trees are gone now and wished I had done it sooner. =)
Call them, you will not be sorry.

He came and he was in time. He was right on his quote and he did a great job. It was so windy out here and the guy was up in the tree about 40 feet, but I guess he knew what he was doing. I wanted the trees down, because I thought they were going to blow over. I actually went through the top four or five of all the ones on Angie's List in this area, and he was the only one who responded, I e-mailed them all. He came out the next day, and called with a quote and it was about the same as what my neighbor had gotten from this other fellow that did not have very good reputation. So, I said go for it. He said that he will be their between 8:00 and 8:30 this morning, and he was right there, ready to work, got done and in about 2 hours he was gone. He cleaned it all up, no waste. He was responsive, friendly, his quote was reasonable and his work was great.

To be brief, every Arborist and/or tree specialist we sought and found on Angie's List for an appointment, refused us the respect of a simple return call to our inquiry need to have some roots of a large fir tree removed from our back yard.
As it sits, my wife and I are in desperate need of an electrician, but I am afraid to even look at what Angie's List has to offer.

Estimate provided was very reasonable compared to other bids.  Not the lowest but very close.  Crew arrived on time and worked quickly, carefully and professionally.  They did what the contract required and cleaned up nicely when finished.  Very satisfied with the work and would recommend without qualification.

I interviewed and received estimates from 4  tree service companies ranging from  $3,500.00 to $2,000.00.  for tree removal and pruning. This was a 2 day job. Art Durden, owner of EZ tree gave me the second lowest bid however once I mentioned that he was underbid by another company that would cut up the wood, he offered to bring me a load of mixed hardwood and stack it for me! This sealed the deal.  He looked the most professional and seemed to know what he was talking about . He was listed with the Solano County Better Business Bureau, was licensed, insured and gave off the best "vibe". I have learned over the years not to discount "gut feelings".
On the day of the job he showed up on time with three trucks and a crew of 4. They worked 7 hours the first day and 5 hours the second day taking a 30 min break for lunch on the first day only.  They cleaned up after they were done, raked and blew off the leaves and dust and took all of the wood and chips except for one pile of chips that they offered to leave me as a garden ground cover, which I happily accepted.
It pays to shop around and thanks to Angies List I found a contractor that I will use again and recommend to others.

They did a great job.  It was very reasonably priced.  They came out and did a walk through and cost the job out.  They came in on budget.  They were on time.  They actually did a super job.  I got several quotes.  They were not the cheapest, but they were definitely worth the price.  They were a breeze to work with and I would recommend them.  The price is all relative.  It is based on the size and the scope of the job, but it was fair and within reason.  I plan to hire them again in the future.

We had two large pine trees in our back yard which we wanted removed. We initially obtained estimates from four companies. Of the four, two turned out not to be licensed by the California State Contractors License Board, one was a large national company whose estimate was in excess of $5,000.00, and we were considering using the fourth company when we decided to join Angie's List. We were quite impressed with the reviews we found for E Z Tree Inc.and called Art for an estimate. When Art came out we found him to be very professional and knowledgeable and just felt that we could rely on him to do a good job. He certainly did not disappoint. He gave us an excellent proposal (among the lowest quotes we received), his crew showed up on time and worked hard for a day and a half and did a super job. One of the trees hung over our fence into our neighbors' yard and virtually no debris fell into their yard due to the conscientiousness of the workers. When the job was completed, the crew did a thorough clean up. We have already told several neighbors and family members of our great satisfaction with E Z Tree, Inc. and would unhesitatingly give them our highest recommendation.

I found EZ Tree on Angie's List. I had a bid for the work I thought reasonable (I've never had this sort of work done before) but I wanted to double check and get a second opinion and a second bid. So I fired up Angie's List and found Art and EZ Tree. He had good reviews, so I gave him a call. Art came over that same day, and it was clear he knew his trees. His advice was, in several cases, directly opposite what the other organization had told me, and it actually reduced the work he would be hired to do. It also made a lot more sense. He was smart, personable, clearly cared about his job and knew his subject. I liked him immediately. His bid arrived within a few days and it was far less than the first bid -- about half, and for more thorough work (he included stump grinding when the other company hadn't). I hired him instantly. When we scheduled the work, I assumed I'd next hear from Art when he was on site. Imagine my delight when he called me a day or two after scheduling to ask for my fax number. He wanted me to see his license, bond and insurance paperwork -- something I'd completely forgotten to ask about. How many contractors do such a thorough job of educating and protecting their customers? Art even suggested I go to the state license website to look him up there. I did, and everything was as promised. When the work day came, Art and his crew arrived on time and set to work. At the last second I asked about adding boxwood removal to the job, and it was no problem. The crew was fast, careful, polite and neat. They were done with removal before the end of the day and left the yard cleaner than before they came. It was terrific. Art and a crewman came around the next working day to stump grind, and again, the work was fast, neat, clean and thorough. He didn't just grind the stumps down -- he ground them out completely, and that included a stump with a very tricky placement. Again, the yard was neater when he left than when he arrived. And, true to form, he wouldn't take my check until he brought me an invoice, so I'd have an exact record of what was done. Art is the single most reliable, thorough and professional contractor I've ever encountered. He's community-minded (his equipment is used to hang the city Christmas decorations) and customer focused. Hire him! You'll be very, very glad you did.

Art responded quickly to my inquiry and came to discuss the job with me in person. He explained what the work would involve and came back to me with a very competitive bid in just a few days. His crew arrived on time and completed the job in two days, including grinding the stump to below grade and complete clean up. They were very careful and skillful in taking down the tree, part of which overhung the house. They even blew out my gutters and the gutters of my neighbor, whose property was also affected by needle drop from the dying tree. E-Z Tree Service is licensed and bonded, and were happy to show me all their insurance documentation, which really gave me peace of mind.

EZ Tree came out and gave me a free estimate for trimming several large trees. Art, the owner, really knows his trees and can give you an analysis of whether to remove or trim damaged trees. They are also insured, licensed, certified etc. They removed some huge and dangerous branches and cleaned out the tree crown of a pine tree. They trimmed back dead wood from an almond tree. And they significantly pruned a walnut tree. The crew was incredible and they had all of the correct equipment from a hydraulic basket to take a worker up in the crown, to ropes, pullies, chippers, saws, etc.. After doing a perfect job with the trees they chipped the massive amounts of vegatation they had removed, neatened up the yard, and even left some larger pieces of wood stacked up for firewood (per my request). I now have safer, more esthetically pleasing trees and a much improved view. This was done for a great price.
