I have a home warranty through a company if something goes wrong they
call some one out. I had my bath tub stop draining and called to have it
fixed the company sent out "the plumbinator". he was suppose to be out
5/13 between 1- 5 at this time it was an emergency and he canceled
because he didn't have time he came out the next day and he said that
there was nothing he could do he didn't put a snake down the drain. He
just told use there was a issue and we would need to cut the pipes he
then told me that it was going to 700. he was not only 2 days late he
didn't even try. DO NOT give him business I think he is just in it for the money i would use him again.

In my new home less than 6 months, I experienced a significant sewer line back up. When I contacted my home warranty company they sent this plumber. He arrived relatively on time, attempted to snake the line with no result, suggested that I call the city for a camera of the line because he suspected a P trap in the sewer line because my home is 100 years old. I called the city and when a city service guy showed up and agreed to camera the line, the plumber packed his stuff quickly, leaving the line backed up. Right after he left, the city guy told me that they don't clear stoppages. I immediately called the plumber back and he returned to snake the line again. He told me that they offer no guarantees for this work because the "line is broken". He had the stoppage cleared within 45 minutes and went his merry way. The city arrived the next day to camera the line. They found a P trap that wasn't causing my stoppage. The stoppage was caused by roots in the line. The city plumber said that the plumber did a poor job of clearing the roots and had only left a half dollar sized hole in the roots and that my line would have stopped back up within a week or two. The city plumber kindly and easily hand rooted a significant amount of roots from the line. The city ultimately ended up replacing about 10 feet of line, removing the P trap. The Plumbinator ended up getting paid twice for the same, poorly executed job. Once by the home warranty company, with a $25 deductible paid by me and a second time by me at $149. He said it was because they were for different services. I was desperate to have the line cleared.
Response from THE PLUMBINATOR
"Root problems are not covered by the member's home warranty company, which means they will not pay me to proceed with solving the plumbing issue. Of course, she was upset. I am limited to what I can do since I am an independent plumbing contractor and not an employee of the home warranty. I have no authority. When retrieving the snake, roots were evident which usually indicates a pipe is broken. To determine the extent of the damage, a video inspection needs to be done, which I could have done for the sum of $275. However, I recommended she call the city. In some cases, they will do that and then repair it with no cost to the homeowner. The repair that the city ultimately did would have cost her approx. $1200. if a plumber, not a city employee did it. She avoided over a thousand dollars worth of repair because of my recommendation to call the city. The sewer snake procedure needed to be done in order for me to determine the course of action. Once the roots were evident, the home warranty did not cover for that, hence the fee for that service."
