Stan's Handyman Service

Stan was coming to clean our gutters (see separate review for that), and I asked if he could hang Christmas lights. He agreed to do the project. The project started at $100. He spent 5 hours working on it, and got two structures done - the lights were not what we thought they were causing extra work. I had to get more lights & clips, and he would have to come back. At that point he already spent more time than on the gutter cleaning and was charging 1/2 as much, so we agreed - more like I offered another $100 for a total of $200. He was so hesitant to give a price because it was (just) hanging lights. He sepnt alot of time making the light just what I wanted and I love the result!! He is a good guy with integrity and does the job right.

Stan performed this service for us twice last fall/winter. I emailed last week to check his availability, we emailed and texted to schedule and coordinate, and he showed up while we were not home yesterday, 12/8 (was planned that way). Stan cleaned the gutters on two houses, a garage, and a chicken coop (the size of a larger storage shed). The garage he didn't charge me for because there was very little debris in its gutters (and I'm a repeat customer). The job is done and for a reasonable price. To date, Stan has done a great job for us with each job we throw at him. He has done gutter cleaning, installed storm doors, replaced a littlel siding, and replaced caulking throughout the exterior of two houses. Always does a great job, cleans up after himself, and we couldn't be happier with his services.

Stan has done work for us before. This time we scheduled him to install two new Anderson storm/screen doors, and replace the trim surrounding both doors (and paint them). He did a terrific job. The trim joints are tight and aligned, and the reveals even. The doors are tightly sealed so we can leave them open in cold/hot weather with very little temperature loss. Looks great! He arrived when scheduled and finished when expected. He seems to take his time to do the job right. No rushing to get on to the next client, but also quotes the projects (doesn't charge me by the hour). I feel like he gives my project his full attention. A note for those contacting him thru Angie's List. CALL HIM. I don't get the impression that he is the kind of person that lives by his e-devices. He might be a bit old school...no offense intended. He does great work though!

Stan came when scheduled to look at the job. He left, asked a few questions via email about the job, and then gave the price. I agreed and arranged a day for the work. He came as promised and completed the work in two days. He did a great job, and even went above and beyond doing extra painting when I had said it was ok not to (wasn't included in the job). I think it bugged him to leave the white caulking marks against the dark color trim. The house will be painted in a few months, so I didn't see the need to do it. I'm so glad he did. It looks really good and I have peace of mind that we are ready for winter. I recommend Stan and will hire him again.

Stan's the man! We had a good dialog on email which allowed him to get started with the estimate while we were at work. Then he did the prep off-site and later installed the new fencing piece on-time and with great professionalism. I highly recommend Stan and will be recommending him to friends.

Stan Hembree is an excellent, professional, "all around" handyman. He did several different jobs for us in our 4 bedroom rental house located in Vacaville. He completely repainted the inside and the outside of house. He pulled out the old carpeting in the living room and hallway and replaced it with laminated flooring and new floor/wall moldings. He fixed the chipped kitchen sink, repaired sliding closet doors, did some minor wall repairs and replaced a few broken smoke alarms. Stan arrived at the house on time to give us the 3 estimates. We initially split the job into 3 parts, as we weren't sure if we could afford to do the exterior painting, plus do all the interior stuff too. But, he pleasantly surprised us with a fair and reasonable price on each estimate, so we could afford to do all 3 jobs. He promptly started working the very next day and he finished on time (amazing)!! He is neat, clean, reliable and does quality work. Stan Hembree is a real gem of a handyman and we highly recommend him for your home repair needs!

Stan used to be a finisher in construction on very expensive homes. He showed us the same professionalism and skill that goes with such a position. I would give him my highest recommendation.
