First of all, Jamie and his assistant were on time, they were friendly and professional, they even wore booties over their shoes. They handled their equipment efficiently. Not too much of it comes along so don't worry about a lot of equipment in your house. I had already researched what HERS testing was all about so he was pleasantly surprised he had a knowledgeable customer. Sometimes it might feel intrusive when a service provider comes to your home but in this instance it felt like a friendly neighbor doing me a favor. As to the cost, it was part of the installation cost of the HVAC equipment along with the cost of the city permit and was not broken out. Therefore the cost shown above as 0.00 is not accurate. It seems that is the only option since Angie's doesn't allow "included" or question marks. I also like the fact that they like to handle paperwork electronically and send you everything via email for you to print or not as your own home inspector requires. (The city inspector comes after the HERS testing is completed.)
Description of Work: After having either a furnace or air conditioner unit installed, California regulations mandate inspection of the efficiency of the ductwork. This is called T-24 or HERS (home energy rating system) testing. Do not be afraid when they say they will "pressure test" your ducts. Very simply, a plastic film is placed over your duct outlets/vents and the furnace or a/c is turned on and run for a bit. They then use the equipment to measure output and leakage, if any. Jamie Medlin, the owner, was on hand personally to run the test along with a helper he was training. It took not quite an hour as I recall and they didn't miss a beat. All was done efficiently and carefully.
