First, we had a consultation with Jim, who was very thorough and honest about all the options available. The crew were punctual and very considerate, making sure everything was covered in plastic to keep things clean. There were A LOT OF rocks and debris in the attic (apparently the roof used to be flat concrete). So, it took them all day instead of half the day to finish the work. I feel so bad for the crew, and they were still so nice.

Service was very professional. Only one small inconsequential hitch: insulation work had to be re-scheduled, but promptly done.

If I could give this company an A++++ I would. I cannot express how grateful I was that we found HPM to do the work on our house. I started looking into doing energy efficient upgrades on our older home and after months of research on state and local rebate programs I decided that working with HPM through the Energy Upgrade CA program via SCG and SCE was the best option. I had contacted 4 contractors and received 4 different quotes. HPM had the best pricing, in addition to the most thorough presentation on the scope of work. Jim H. our contact was very honest about the needs of our home, helpful with explaining everything in detail to me (I am a control freak and need detail) and accommodating to my work schedule and specifics on our home. They did multiple parts of work within days and followed up to make sure things were to my liking. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM and would definitely hire them again in a heartbeat.

Ricardo and crew were hardworking, polite, and communicative. They worked through their lunch to get the job done. We were also impressed with their honesty as they notified us that something had fallen and chipped our cabinet. Most people might ignore the situation, but they had the integrity to let us know about the accident and fix it.

We first got interested in solar after our energy bills continued to soar out of control.  Our bills averaged approx. $300 to $350 dollars monthly without using the air conditioning.  During the summer months, when we were forced to turn on the air, our bills would average over $700.  We could not sustain paying the $700 energy bills so we would just not use the air and suffer through it. We resisted solar because frankly, we just did not know a lot about it.  A very good friend of our got solar and we were finally able to speak to someone we knew and trusted.  He loved it and told us how it worked.  We were sold.  We call Home Performance Matters and they came out and told us exactly what they offered and how it would impact our energy use and bill.  We went with it.  After the install and the system was turned on, we received our first monthly bill.  Our bill that use to average $300 was now $.97!  We could not be more happy with our system.  We also realized that we pay less for our monthly finance payment for the system than we were paying in our monthly energy bill.  And we are paying for something we are eventually going to own.

I hired Home Performance Matters last August (2015) to install a new HVAC system, ductwork, and insulation. I did extensive research to determine the company that would have the best service and the best prices, and this company came out top on my list in every area.

We had them do an energy audit and looked at multiple options. During my initial research phase (which lasted over a month) Joel was very responsive to my questions as I researched different HVAC models and companies. When I made the choice to go with this company Matt took over as the project manager who came out with his team to do the actual install.

The entire crew was completely professional every step of the way from showing up when they said they would, to clear communications, and keeping the work area neat.

They worked with me to determine the government credits for the energy efficiency improvements due to the new system and even lowered the price on the new unit when the one I initially chose was no longer carried by their supplier by the time we were ready to order. I was especially impressed when about 7 months after the entire project was completed, I got another check *from* Home Performance Matters since the rebate for my system was larger than they estimated.

Our electric bill has dropped substantially over the prior year with the old HVAC unit. I could not be more happy with the company and the service/ products that I received.

Salesman was very courteous, even following up with me when I got sick and had to cancel the original appointment. Got a good quote, went over all the options, and signed the contract. The work was scheduled right away. The 2-man crew showed up right on time. They did a very thorough, careful and professional job. I have never had workers who were so careful and conscious of protecting my home. Overall, a good quality professional installation. I am very pleased with this company, and highly recommend them.

We started with an HPF energy audit, using an Angie's List coupon. There was a bit of confusion about the price of the audit, but they were flexible and honored their offer, and did a full day-long audit on our 3800sf house for the agreed on fee. Their report was detailed and covered a number of options, with price estimates/offers for the various parts. Ceiling insulation, for example, turned out to be substandard -- but the upgrade price was substantial, and no rebates applied.
After reviewing the report, two upgrades made crystal clear sense: some modest intake duct revisions to improve air flow to our furnaces, and a solar generating system. We asked them to bid on both; for the solar, we also contacted two other high-rated Angie's List suppliers. Of the other two, one was way too complicated to deal with and carried lots of marketing pressure and hype, so we let them go. The second was very professional and fast, but came in about $5000 higher than HPM. HPM came with an estimate that was the lowest to start with, and Jonathan patiently went through a number of possible revisions to find the economic as well as energy sweet spot. We ended up with a 24-panel 7200W system for about $28000 before tax credit and the very generous Riverside PU rebate.
Once we had signed, the design process was smooth, although permits took a long time to finalize -- some revisions were needed, and the holidays got in the way, but HPM was persistent and professional throughout. Finally, with everything in place, installation took place in late January. (Jonathan even volunteered to deliver the panels before 12/31 if that would allow us to take the tax credit for 2014, not 2015, but our accountant said it wouldn't work). The installation took two days, and the crew was careful, professional, and clean. One bit of the installation was sub-standard -- the routing of conduit across our roof -- but HPM's senior manager, Dan, was again responsive and helpful, and a crew came back a few days later to reroute without hesitation.
Because RPU is eager to add to its capacity, turn on came almost immediately (apparently it can take 2 months with SCE). We w still owed a little for February, but for March, our electric bill is a credit. That sure feels nice, though of course we'll have to pay something in cooling season, as we didn't go for the maximum possible system.
All in all, I found HPM easy to deal with, no hard sell, open minded and flexible, and professional in their execution. The company is new, entrepreneurial, and most run by pretty young folks. They were a pleasure to deal with.

They performed the tests in general manner but did not do a search and evaluation of air leaks, nor a thermal imaging. They did a more than adequate job for normal homeowner needs. They said it would not be cost effective to do some of the items we were wanting to do at the time. The estimate and options they gave me for improvements was for what they considered "cost effective".
They did offer suggestions relating to the special items and actions I inquired about.
In the end, we did not follow-up with any of the recommended actions at the time because of a change in plans and strategy on our part.

Home Performance Matters is a great company. There was never any pressure to get any services done and their team is absolutely incredible. Couldn't have asked for me. Johnathan, my energy adviser was great at putting up with and answering all my millions of questions (trust me i asked over 3 months of questions!), he was patient and informative and went out of the way to find answers he didn't know off the top of his head. I had 5 different vendors come out and give there bids and in the end I ended up going with HPM because I felt they would do the best job and it would definitely be of quality. No regrets there, they did a fantastic job informing me of all steps of the project and getting everything done in a timely matter. Matt, my project manager kept in touch with me when needed to inform me of any project changes and update. Carlos, the crew lead, did an awesome job informing me each day of the progress made and what would be done the following day. Couldn't have asked for more! They cleaned up all the mess created at the end of every workday and covered any furniture that I requested. As far as the new system, I love it! It's super quiet (which was a big peeve of mine with my old system). It's a 3 ton AC and 4 ton HE furnace to replace my old 5 tons AC and 5 ton furnace. Uses half the amount of power than my old system! I definitely recommend them if you are looking for HVAC/ducting/insulation needs!
I hear they do windows too...that might be my next project...and if I do it I would highly consider doing it through HPM.
