It was great service. They were very professional and reasonably priced. They were hard working. They gave a fair quote. We have used them twice.

He was a good plumber. I would certainly use them again. He showed up on time and he knew what they were doing.

We didn't have hot water on a Saturday morning. Thinking that it was just the pilot light, and I could re-light later, we went out on our day's business. That evening, about 6 pm, I tried lighting the pilot several times without success. I called a plumber from Angie's List and got a message machine. Not wanting to wait, I called Cal State Plumbing and immediately spoke to Margaret, who took all the information, and told me she would call back withing 2 hours with a response to the problem. She called back in less than an hour and said that someone can be at our house on Sunday morning to look at the problem. If the problem could not be fixed, there will be no charge. But if the problem was fixable, then I would pay the $98.50 service charge. Sunday morning, Tim promptly arrives and fixes the problem. He didn't charge me for the part because the water heater was still under warranty by the manufacturer. He even checked a leaking pipe on the water heater and gave me valuable tips and information about water heaters. The other plumber that had the message machine called after the job was complete.

I waited all day for a representative from my home warranty company to arrive. Once he saw the problem, he said he would not be able to fix it because the water heater was still under warranty. He suggested I call another company, and work something out with them. The company, located in the southeast, was already closed due to the time difference. This repairman also gave me a list of things which were wrong with the way our water heater had been installed. Before he left, he gave me the phone number of Cal State Plumbing, located in a nearby town, to see if they could help me since they had experience working with the warranty company. I was very upset that I waited all day, and had to pay the service fee of 55.00 for the first repairman to tell me he could do nothing. I had not bathed or showered all day and to make matters worse, was due to be admitted to the hospital the next morning for a medical procedure. By now, it was after 4:30 in the afternoon. I called Cal State Plumbing, a company I had never called before, and spoke with Margaret. I told her about our problem with the first plumber and the warranty company, and shared that I was due to be in the hospital the next morning. I was still very upset that I would have no hot water on that day. She said she'd call me back to schedule an appointment time, probably for the next day, since the owner of the company, who is also her husband, Tim, was on another call out of the area. She called me back within 5 minutes and said her husband would come by on his way back to town, to see what he could do. He might be able to fix it, depending on the parts, but she could make no promises. Sure enough, Tim and an assistant, came by that evening. He looked at the water heater and immediately knew what was wrong and how to fix it. I told him about the first plumber and his report that the water heater was not properly installed, although it had been through a plumbing inspection recently, because we were adding on to our house. Tim assured me that our water heater installation was fine, but he suggested we redo one thing when we had the time. We asked if he could go ahead and fix that as well. He did, and charged us a minimal amount. He also fixed the water heater and I had hot water within the hour. Apparently, Margaret had shared the news that I was due in the hospital the next morning, and he was kind enough to try to fix the problem that evening.
