Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
Yes, I recommend this pro
$27,000
Awesome!  Couldn't be happier with the results and the entire experience.  Shawn, Owner, actually does the work himself along with his worker, Beto.  They were prompt, professional, clean, and followed through on everything they said they would.  They're also very fast so you're not out of your kitchen for months.  I would definitely recommend to friends and family!

They advertised in Sacramento Home Improvement & Remodeling magazine, which does all the Home Shows and stuff. The man came out and we spent about an hour and a half with him and he explained what he would do. He said that the remodeling would be done in 10 days since we weren’t moving any plumbing or any wiring and were just replacing cabinets, countertops and sinks. The job was to be completely done in 10 days. He came back with a contract and we signed the contract, of which I have a copy here. It is very general and doesn’t say much of anything. He would tell us that it included kitchen knobs, door folds, granite countertops and cabinets. He gave us a date to start the job. One of us has to be home when they are working in the house. So, according to date that he set, I scheduled a week of vacation. A few days later he asked me to come and pick out the granite, and he took me to a granite warehouse. I met him there and picked out the granite. He even brought a door in so I could look at the granite against the finish that I had picked out. He limited me to a specific price range of granite, which is the very cheapest stuff, but I managed to find something that I thought would look good. He called me up three days before the job was supposed to start, and I have got a week of vacation scheduled, and proceeded to tell me that he was running late on another job and he needs to start our job a week late, which isn’t very cool. That didn’t start us off very well at all. Then my husband had to take a week off the following week when he started. They removed everything in the kitchen and that took several days. So, we were without the microwave and without the sink and we were basically eating out of cans and fast food or something until the duration of the job. I don’t know if he was broke at the time or what but he would tell us that he was going to start work every morning at 9 o’ clock, and he might show up at 10.30 or 11 or he might not show up at all. He might leave early. They took one entire day to go to the Bay area to pick up cabinets. Then he had to hire this little guy on the side to build all these cabinets because they came flat in boxes. That consumed like a day and a half. Then he asked me to again tell him the name of the granite that I had picked out. He didn’t write it down and he kept saying that it is such and such and I kept saying that what I had picked out was such and such. I had ordered a touch faucet and I expected to get a credit against what I paid for it, but I did not. I had to supply all my own folds and knobs, which was like several hundred dollars. He put in the cabinets and took a few days to measure the granite. The job had now been going on for over three weeks since the time he started ripping things out, which was way behind schedule. I walk in one and find that they have installed purple granite. It is literally bright purple and I still have pieces of it in my garage. I told him that was not what I had ordered and he kept telling me that it looked fine. I told that it was not acceptable and that it was not what I ordered. We hassled about that for another 10 days before he finally told me to go to this other place and pick out some granite. So I went where he told me. He told me to give them a deposit of $500 to hold it and that he would pick it up, but they didn’t know anything about it. He had made no pre-arrangements with them and they didn’t want to take a $500-dollar deposit from me. They wanted the entire amount of money for the granite. So, that took like another week and a half as we went through all that before he went over there and paid for the granite. In the meantime, he ripped the whole cabinet top off and I am again without a sink or anything. Eventually they got the granite in, and the guy is so ticked off at me that he told me that I could buy my own knobs. He charged me $3,800 to put the second bunch of granite in. he made me pay for it. He took away the old stuff so that he could see the pieces back to the granite company and he was going to credit me, but I never got the money. He never sent me a check and we asked for it. He wouldn’t return our calls. The whole thing took well over six weeks and it was total inconvenience. I would have to take my day off from work and go to the granite store. I went back to that same granite store three different times. It is a convoluted drive from our place and probably takes a good half hour in each direction to get there, and it is just miserable from down town. I burned up through all my vacation time hassling with this man. They did not seal the granite, and two years later now, it is about six shades darker than the rest of the granite. Not only did he charge me well over the contract, but I never got the money on the things he was supposed to refund back to me. A maximum 10-day job ended up taking over two and a half months from beginning to end. I paid him every time he asked me, and we fought over that $3,360 that he charged me for the new granite, and I never got credit for the old granite that he took out. I want to warn everybody off because he is really sleazy. He was going through some kind of a fight with his ex-wife over his kids. I did not know what it was about but he was in and out for court hearings half the times, so he was already very upset. He was impossible to deal with. One of the guys who worked for him did almost all the work and those guys were fine. I had no problems with them. It looked beautiful once I got everything put together until the granite started to darken, and it now needs to be replaced again. I am going to turn him in to the Contractors’ Board and I am going to turn him in to the Better Business Bureau. I have got no satisfaction and he won't return our calls. I would definitely not recommend him to anybody.
