I had this gardener at my rental property and at my Grandparent's house.  About the second time working  on the rental property he couldn't unlock the combination lock (no big deal)  instead of calling me to unlock the gate, he took the latch off of the gate, then when finished did not put it back on securely. My tenants had to put it on.  He never called me to explain that he had to take the latch off the gate - just left it unsecured.  I called him and explained that I needed communication, that he should have just called me to unlock the gate.  
Then the third time he worked at my Grandparent's house I asked him to please trim the dead roses off of the rose bushes.  I came back to see the rose bushes in the back yard cut down to the dirt.  Again he never called me to let me know about the mishap.  I called him and asked what happened.  He told me that his worker had worked in the backyard and didn't understand what he meant. The gardener explained that the next month would be free for my Grandparent's house.  I agreed and told him this was strike number 2, I would fire him if he did not communicate with me.  So the following month comes by and he calls me and explains that he understands that I do not like the front yard at the rental, because it is all dead, so he will give me a $30 discount, I again agreed.  That would make the rental $30 and free for my Grandparent's yard.  So I tell him my Grandparents will write the $30 check and give it to him.  He starts to argue with me and tell me how am I suppose to pay the guys?  I explained to him that these are deals he made with me and that I did not make or even suggest these discounts.  He threatened to take me to court stating that I signed a receipt for the amount,  the receipt I signed was for when he fixed the sprinkler system at the rental, nothing to do with anything else.  He argued and argued with me about the pricing.  I finally stated that he is fired to get off my Grandparent's property and we would send him a check, I told him not to speak with my elderly Grandparents who are suffering with illness, he proceeded to ring the door bell and tell his story to my Grandparents.  Not to mention that this man took advantage of the elderly, he does not follow his word and hires unexperienced people to work with him.  I rate him an F.
