Best Exteriors

I am a home do it
yourselfer who has always had problems with contractors giving me quotes and
then not following through on their promises. It seems they are all sunshine
and smiles at first meeting but sorely lack in the follow up on these promises. 
But when it came to me installing all 17 windows
in my Fremont house, I knew I was out of my league and had to rely on
"some" expert whom I could expect to do the job, on time, on budget
and would follow through with what they promised upfront.
So I called 4 window contractors and got bids
which were all over the map.  They ranged from $11,000 from Best Exteriors
 to $17,000 from Home Depo. The others, Bay Windows and SGK Windows were
in between these amounts but closer to the high end.  Of these four contractors,
three of the sales representatives pointed out installation challenges that
would make their job more difficult and they tried to talk me out of putting
windows in those locations.
The representative from Best Exteriors, Daniel
Yemiru not only insisted that these were not going to be challenges but
persuaded me to install windows in these locations because if I didn't, the
mismatch of window types would stand out as large blemish in the decor of the
house. Daniel's advice was absolutely correct. 
So I looked into the quality of the windows as
well as the features, and guarantees.  Milgard, Simonton, and Anlin were
the manufactures.  I didn't find any major outstanding differences in the
quality or life time guarantee provided by all three.  In all my searches
online I could not find any references to faults or reliability issues in any
of these products.  
But I still wondered why there was such a price
difference between the Anlin widows Best Exteriors offered and Milgard or
Simonton.  In the end, I found that Milgard and Simonton were more
expensive because their advertising budget is large. Since they feel they have
an established name, they could charge more and customers would pay.
Since, for the same quality windows, I didn't
want to pay for someone's advertising budget, I chose to go with Best Exteriors
and the Anlin windows.  Again, the life time guarantees where the same. 
After I signed the contract, that's where GOOD
things really started to happen - which I did not expect. Daniel Yemiru, had
his estimator Alex, visit my house immediately, at a time convenient to me. Not
only did Alex strike me as polite, well mannered, and intelligent, he measured
all of the widows correctly the first time and coached me on what to expect:
installation in one day, no money up front, payment only after I was fully
satisfied.  Bay windows, SKG and Home Depot wanted half of the total cost
before they would start work.  One of these contractors even had to make
two trips (requiring me to be on site both - 100 miles from where I live)
because he had missed one window, and miss-measured another.
After signing the contract, I was promised that
the windows would be ready in three weeks. Guess what, they were ready in three
weeks.  During this time, Daniel called me regularly to update me on the
progress of window manufacturing process and stated to me many times,
"Sir, you will be proud of the work we will do for you".  
When window installation day came, Anthony,
another very bright, well-mannered young man from Best Exteriors, and his two
man crew, got to work. 
I was amazed. I had suspected that they may have
problems with the "challenge windows" but not so. They put them in
quickly and without issue. Anthony is the kind of guy who can think on his
feet, figure out what to do and follow through with the best solution. He was
very pleasant and patiently answered all of the many questions I had as a
"do it yourselfer".
The next day, Daniel came to visit and
personally inspect the work. My sister and wife had just arrived to do the
same. My sister and wife were amazed at the quality of workmanship and the
improvement these new windows made in the decor of the house. They were also
impressed with the speed of installation and above all the total cost. And of
course, they were very impressed with Daniel as a person. Together we talked a
long time.
Based on what she saw, my sister has decided to
use Best Exteriors when she replaces the windows in both of her houses.
 When the time comes we also know who to go to for the windows of our
other houses - this will be Best Exteriors. Just as Daniel promised, I am very
proud of the work they did.
