AKA Construction-Arthur Anchondo bid and was awarded a large remodel job for our home. During this process he performed horrific work and abruptly quit the day of Electrical and Plumbing inspection. The inspector performed the inspection of the home and signed the job off as "not ready for inspection" to give us time to find another contractor. The same inspector returned, completed the inspection with the new contractor one week later. Their were so many problems it took the new contractor 2 1/2 months to fix the damage. He also failed to have workers Comp. during this time and did not pay the subs.
We eventually sued and won a lawsuit for $330,000.00, the amount of the damage to the house and the money we paid him.  He NEVER paid the amount of money he owed and eventually declared bankruptcy. He now back in business with the same licence with no record of this incident on his licencing information.

Our experience with AKA from both work and professional standards, were unnecessarily painful and stressful. Detailed below are examples of our experience. Work performed was substandard and of extremely poor quality which has been validated by multiple contractors who we have had to bring in to fix deficient workmanship. 1. AKA neglected to get required permits to ensure work is in regulatory compliance. 2. Redesign of laundry room was poorly planned. We are unable to open door without hitting appliances. As a result, AKA positioned the dryer directly in front of the water valves (not standard), and the washer next to the door with the water hose laying directly beneath the electrical outlet. 2. Agreed upon contract states painting of inside of house (excluding cabinets), AKA refused to paint doors and one of the bedrooms. 3. Screen door into the garage was removed to replace door - contractor refused to reinstall the door correctly. Presently it does not latch, close, and swings freely. 4. Front door handle on newly installed door was incorrectly installed - had to hire locksmith to fix. Floor guard is bent and there is visible gap between the floor and door guard which we had to hire a professional to repair. 5. Kitchen cabinet knobs and handles poorly installed - visibly not level. 6. Kitchen cabinet toe kick boards not stained correctly - mismatched/inconsistent to rest of cabinetry. AKA painted over the nails in Toe Kick with Red/Brown paint - mismatched to cabinetry stain. 7. Kitchen cabinets not stained correctly, uneven flow among drawers and doors. 8. Kitchen plumbing underneath sink leaking - holes in pipes installed has flooded kitchen multiple times, had to call plumber to fix. 9. Drywall in bathroom was cut into when re-piping bath fixtures - the hole in the drywall was not patched. 10. Contractor refused to correctly seal new backsplash in kitchen, resulting in grease stains which had to be removed by professional. Additionally, we have hired a professional to correctly seal backspash.
