Another vendor (who had an "A" on Angie's list) sent a guy who tested the line and told me what I already knew, that it was not working. We had just remodeled the kitchen and I mentioned that the wire to the doorbell was cut so we could move the thermostat. He told me the line must have been cut and we'd have to run a wire from the garage to the living room. I decided to think it over, knowing that I'd have to pay another $100 just for him to come out and $80/hr thereafter. I got Mr. Rahimi's name from a yahoo group, called him, made an appointment, and fixed the line by accessing some additional wires (because we are set up to receive more than one incoming line). Total cost: $104. No holes drilled, no wires strung.
