About us

Welcome to The Greenery Nursery. We began as a small nursery providing unique plants and exceptional service in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Over the years we have grown and made quite a few changes, but we have never forgotten where we started from. In 1969 George and DeaAnna Schumacher opened the doors on a small piece of land in what was then the center of downtown Turlock. By the late 70’s as businesses were moving away from the downtown area, they stayed and expanded. In 1982 I joined the nursery as a clean-up boy with a great passion for gardening. In 1985 the business was sold and I was off to college, only to come back four years later and help George start from scratch all over again. In 1996 George and I became partners and we continue as partners today. After 40 years our commitment has never changed. Our goal is to provide great plants, exceptional service and a fantastic environment to shop and work in. After all these years in business, we both still enjoy our favorite hobby - gardening!

The staff was knowledgeable as well as patient when we chose the trees for our front yard.  Their yard team brought the trees, cut appropriate holes, filled with appropriate nutrients.  They left us with specific spoken and written instructions and called several days later to check on them.

There are a number of challenges here as there are a lot of roots and the system is not as accessible as one that serves only lawns and plant beds. I was expecting to do a much more and quot;in depthand quot; upgrade. However, the work that was done brought the system to a workable level. There were two returns to fix subsequent problems, and eventually it worked satisfactorily.
The original bid was 900.00, but I bought parts for my sprinkler controls which were not used. I then bought a new control system which we did use.

The project was done on time and within budget, the site was clean and presentable at the end of each workday, and the personnel were extremely professional and an excellent representative of the nursery we would not hesitate to use them again and have continued to purchase nursery goods and services from them. If something is not in stock they acquire outstanding stock and guarantee it. You may pay a little more but the service and products are outstanding. we used them in July/Aug 2011 and again Mar 2012

The job went very well. They did just beautiful design work which was very innovative and interesting design work. They have a beautiful nursery so that one can always see the plants in advance before having them installed in the home. They have innovative high quality design work. They spent lot of time, asked a lot of questions, clearly understood the interest in the overall objective of the landscaping project and just did beautiful work.
