Auto Tires
America's Tire in Turlock is pretty much the only place we'll go for tires anymore. I'd say that just about every time I've been there, I've received quality tires, a low price and great customer service.
The first time we went there a couple of years ago because they had the lowest price on tires. They also offered a tire warranty, to which I initially didn't pay that much attention. It's been a while, so I don't remember too much about the customer service either way that day.
Fast forward a bit to the unluckiest week for our tires ever. We had two, count 'em TWO nails in our tires in one week: one very close to the sidewall and one in the middle of the tread.
I knew going into it that the one close to the sidewall was unsafe to fix and would have to be replaced. I remembered the warranty on the tires and know that most places try to find some fine print loophole to get themselves out of honoring their warranty, but since we were low on money, I figured I'd give it a shot. The man at the store looked at the tire, said it would have to be replaced, but that since it was under warranty, I'd only have to pay an $18 fee (probably for tire disposal or tax or something). $18 sure beat $125+ for a new tire!
My hubby took in the tire that had the nail in the tread, which they also repaired under the warranty for a grand total of $0! No problems! Not too shabby.
So of course, when the time came to replace our tires 60,000 miles later, I went over to America's Tire here in town. They didn't have the size that would match the one they replaced the flat with (at $115 each), but the sales clerk felt bad that the only tire that would be a close and safe match would cost over $140 each. So, he reduced the price on the tires to match the lower priced out of stock tire without me even asking. He saved me $75 without me even having to ask.
They DO get busy there, so I'd recommend setting up an appointment online. I was able to get a same-day appointment, and even though I was 10 minutes late, I was in and out within an hour. There' a little shopping center with Dollar Tree and Costco nearby, so I just popped over there to pass the time. There's also a few restaurants nearby (Wendy's, Sonic and a Mexican restaurant) America's Tire does have a little waiting area with coffee, bottled water, seats and windows looking into the work area. My boys love watching the workers change the tires.
When you buy tires, they also offer free tire rotation and air pressure checks, but I've not taken advantage of these yet.
They're straightforward, honest, and try to save their customers' money. Plus they actually honor their warranty!
As my husband says, "America's Tire rocks!"
