Our contracted price was $59,000 with $3,300 in additions that we verbally authorized. There has been some disagreement between Juan and his employee who told him that we authorized additional work that was never even mentioned to us, as well as other money that was spent by the employee that supposedly he didn't know about. Juan now refuses to complete the work unless we pay him an additional $12,000, but according to our contract we owe him less than $1,400. I don't believe that we should be held responsible for work that we never authorized or for miscommunication between the employee and Juan. The bid for the sealing alone was $2000 which has not been completed, in addition to the numerous other things that have not been completed. We no longer wish to do business with him and offered to cancel the remainder of the work on the contract at the current price paid. However, now he said that he will take us to court.
