They did a good job at a reasonable price. They came out the same day we called. They were on time for the job and worked quickly. My husband called the company and actually thanked them for doing such a good job.

Just did. By the way, I saw in your resolution that the owner sent in some BS about the fact that at first I said I was satisfied. He did not tell how that was only momentarily until the problem repeated itself and I called in another company to actually replace the switch which was a $15.00 part. Angie's list, you let me down.

They sent out an initial fellow, who was fairly incompetent. He reviewed the situation, then called back to the company and they decided to send someone else out. The second guy reviewed the situation and decided we actually needed the tools that the first guy had brought, but instead he tried to make do with the larger tools he had. He looked at the septic tank, but didn't have enough knowledge to know if it was problematic or not. His tools turned out to work pretty well and he was able to clear the drain. He was thorough in cleaning up after himself, which was appreciated. We then left on vacation and within 2 days of returning, the drains backed up again. When we called Torrance Plumbing, they said this fell outside of the original work and would require a $800 visit so they could bring in a camera and a high pressure hose, but they would refund $150 from the initial visit. Overall, the experience didn't leave a great impression. It is unlikely we will use this company again.

I have two heating and air conditioning systems (one for upstairs, one for downstairs). During the winter the performance was poor, and the units were not brand new, so I fully expected to have to get new units installed. I called Torrance Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning because they were highly recommended to me by someone I trust. When I called, I was briefly placed on hold, but immediately a woman picked up the phone apologizing for the delay - and it turned out to be the owner, Carol. She was extremely professional in asking what I needed, and worked very hard to arrange an appointment in my tight schedule availabilities. On the day of the visit by the technician the office called to confirm the appointment 30 minutes before the scheduled time to confirm. They arrived on schedule and the technician was neat, and very professional in his demeanor before starting his work. After exploring and reviewing the details of the two systems, including using flashlights and crawling around in the basement, he determined that the systems really looked o.k., but required a thorough cleaning of the metal mesh air filters. He estimated that I have about 5 years of good use left on the exisiting systems!! He also suggested what new units would cost, including tax breaks and rebates that were applicable from the gas company. He then took the filters out of the heaters, sprayed them clean with a hose in the back yard, and dried them out, and reinstalled them. The difference in flow was incredible! He cleaned up after himself, recoiled the hose and packed up to leave. He gave me his business card and told me to ask for him if I had any additional problems. It was a great experience! I highly recommend Torrance Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning!

We had hired Torrance Plumbing and Heating previously in March, 2010 when we felt out water heater was failing (hot water was lasting a very short time). When we called their office, they immediately asked several questions, all directed to the possibility that we might be able to fix the unit, at least temporarily, without having to purchase a new one. But our responses all indicated that the heater, over 15 years old, was on its last leg. They next described several water heaters they carry in various price ranges and fully explained the pro's and con's of each. We took detailed notes and called around to other plumbers in the area to check Torrance's competitiveness...they were the cheapest or very close to the cheapest in virtually every category, including installation and taking away the old heater! We called them back, selected a good quality 40-gallon heater and were pleasantly surprised when they told us they could install it the very next moring. Right at 8:30AM, their technician, Nick, arrived with the exact model we chose, explained how he'd be doing the doing the installation and gave us some very helpful hints on how to maintain the new water heater in order to maximize its lifetime. He was completely finished by 9:45 and did such a thorough job of cleaning up that you'd never know a plumber had been in our home! Well, just 2-3 weeks ago the electric motor in our garbage disposal decided to quit. Without hesitation, we again called Torrance Plumbing and Heating. And again, they suggested a couple of possible fixes that might let us avoid a new unit (hand-cranking the gears, testing the re-set button,etc.). Unfortunately, nothing worked so again they presented us with several options as to brand name, horsepower, etc. We decided to upgrade a little from a 1/4 horse to a 1/2 horse, but the price was still very reasonable. Nick was again out to our place the very next morning and had the new disposal installed perfectly in about 30 minutes, and then explained the new features, maintenance, and warranty. Nick is VERY professional, courteous, obviously prompt, and does a marvelous job of cleaning up his work area. We're told that Torrance Plumbing and Heating has been owned by the same family since 1917, and is one of the city's oldest businesses. That kind of staying power is indicative of the level of customer service, price competitiveness and professionalism delivered by this one-of-a-kind plumbing and heating company...for our family, we will not go anywhere else !

The worker was polite and in the end I had heat. The problem arose again in September. I did not turn on the AC but the unit was freezing over. This happened on a Saturday. I called Torrance Plumbing, Heating...and was told someone would call me. They never did. I called another Co. who took the time to help me over the phone. They advised me to turn off the breaker switches for the AC. and said I might have a faulty switch. After several calls to Torrance Plumbing... the manager called me about 8:30 p.m. He was rude, arrogant, and told me that the work done in Feb to repair the re-set switch was warranteed for 30 days. The next week, another company came out. The man replaced a burnt out contact, and a faulty switch. He showed me the old parts, told me that it did not look as if Torrance Plumbing and Heating did anything. He explained that the old contact was sticking and that was my problem. He charged me $185.

Since I had no water, I called company, and they said someone would be out within the hour (3:30 pm). Tech drove up at 3:40 (not bad), and said that the 1" valve would have to be replaced (the stem had broken off the old one). He soldered a "lever-type" gate valve onto the copper line. Although the service was fairly prompt and reasonably priced, I was disappointed in the quality of the copper soldering (messy). Plumber was otherwise courteous and professional.

WE HAD ORIGINALLY PLACED AND ORDER FOR A TOILET REPLACEMENT ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT THE SIZE WE NEEDED WAS NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. THEY HAD TO INSTALL A SMALLER TOILET AND ADJUST THE PLUMBING ACCORDINGLY. WORK DONE NEATLY AND EFFICIENTLY.

I TOLD THE PERSON ON THE PHONE WHAT WAS WRONG AND WHEN THEY CAME TO DO THE REPAIR, THEY HAD A NEW WATER HEATER WITH THEM. THE JOB WAS DONE IN A NICE AMOUNT OF TIME.
