Sinbad Flooring has installed approximately 1600 sq ft. of engineered hardwood flooring in my residence. We had an issue with excess moisture with our cement floor.  The sales rep. came up with a good fix for the problem by installing four layers of moisture barrier material.   The price was fair and the workmanship was excellent.  My wife and I are very happy with the result.  There were a few concerns during the installation. First,  the installation took 2 weeks. The sale rep quoted one week but it was not realistic.  Second, the owner needs to supervise the installation due to the nature of the product. Color matching is an issue (See Urban flooring review.) for purchasing and installation of the product.  The Sinbad Sale Rep. name is Ryda and he gave us excellent service and performed on all his promises to us.

This was - and is - a horrible experience. This company is greedy and inhumane. The removal of the old carpeting and the installation of the new carpeting went okay - the workers broke a few things and dinged the hardwood leading up the stairs - but I expected some of that. Approximate 3 to 6 months after the installation, the carpeting began to "fuzz" in unusual areas [not all high traffic]. I asked Sinbad to contact Stainmaster - and 9 months later inspector #1 arrived. He determined that 'the vacuum cleaner did it'. I continued to contact Sinbad - and months later sent a second inspector. He decided it was a common problem with Tactesse [a Stainmaster fiber]. At this point, Sinbad agreed to replace the defective carpet, I picked a new style and color, and an installation date was set. I moved all the items I could in my home - and they did not show up. They did not call or respond to many emails, phone calls, or cell phone calls. I learned that the owner 'called it off''. I continued to plead with Sinbad and finally over a year later a third inspector said the carpet was defective. I - and Sinbad - got a letter from Invista [the Stainmaster owner] that the carpet will all be replaced. This was December of 2009. I have had appointments scheduled to pick new carpet and colors that will blend with all the new painting and decorating done when this 'project' began. Sinbad has scheduled appointments where I go to their showroom - they have nothing appropriate prepared for me to look at - and take care of walk-in customers and ignore me. They have scheduled appointments here at my home and do not show up or call. At this point, I have decided to take two months hiatus from this nightmare. I have the full life of the warranty from the original carpet installation [seven years]. I figure with this company I will need at least 2 more years to complete the replacement. They have said this 'delay' is my fault because I can't find a color or style that I like. I don't know enough about what is available without guidance and I'm totally frustrated with this company. I also do not trust them to deliver on what they promise. It is my opinion they do not know the meaning of customer service and I wish I had known about Angie's List when I began upgrading my home.

Although they are on the expensive side, I chose them because of a referral from someone I trusted. At first, they were very responsive, but after I paid the deposit, I had to pester them continuously since they were slow to return calls. The flooring work seemed very good initially. I needed some minor plumbing work and painting related to the bathroom flooring, so they subcontracted a painter and plumber for me. The painter's work was shoddy. I had to replace a dishwasher some time after the installation, and discovered that because they built up the floor over some older tile, it trapped the dishwasher under the counter. They charged me to remove some hardwood and replace it after the dishwasher was replaced, even though they had assured me before the flooring installation that this would not be a problem. When I asked them why they were charging me, they became quite nasty. As we talked about the issue, they lied about what we had agreed upon beforehand. It was an unpleasant interaction.

The person who we set the job up with, without our knowledge sent a sub contractor. The sub left a lot of damage to the floor, they came back to redo the job , but there was still damage. When we told them that we were still unsatisfied they said that we were perfectionists. We had to have a second company to come out to fix the problem. They did not seem to give professional judgement of the floor in the first place they seemed to think that our custom floor was a premanufactured floor.
