Manicures/Nails
There aren't enough words to describe how low-class this place is. My sister and I decided to try Kool Nail Spa because she works just down the street from it. As soon as I walked in I wanted to turn around and walk back out. The place was obviously not clean and smelled strongly of incense, which gives me an instant headache. We were immediately rushed by three ladies, asking us what we wanted and trying to convince us that in addition to what we asked for, we also needed pedicures. My sister decided that she would get a pedicure as well as a fill, and I stuck with a manicure. My manicure was perfunctory at best. The manicurist did not say a word to me the entire time. She is Vietnamese and I completely understand there's a language barrier. But I mean, NO words. No gestures. Not even a smile. She hardly paid attention to what she was doing. She actually left old fingernail polish on one of my nails and just painted over it. I had to ask my sister's manicurist to fix it. What really got me though, was when I tried to pay. I produced a debit card to pay for both my sister and me. Kevin, my sister's nail tech, informed me that they don't take debit cards because they get charged $2.00 per transaction. However, there is a Visa/MasterCard sign clearly displayed on their door. When I reminded him of this, he told me that there was an ATM across the parking lot and I could easily go get cash. I let him know that the ATM wasn't from my bank, and that I would be charged $2.00 just to take out the cash, to which he replied, "It's better that you pay $2.00, than we pay $2.00." I did go to the ATM and get the money (AND pay the $2.00 fee), and when I got back to the salon, Kevin was on the phone with his cell phone provider. He couldn't be bothered to get off the phone, so he just took my money, laid my change on the counter and walked off without acknowledging me.
