This was a solid experience from beginning to end. Provider was on time and very personable. Their unique approach to building the doors was fascinating and helped streamline everything. And the quality of everything was really good, including a lot of the custom work that was needed for the closet doors. Only thing I thought was a little weird was that any trim or moulding they install to "finish" the doors is not something they paint, but that ended up not being something that was too much of a hassle to handle myself.

I called Interior Door and Closet to ask about changing some of the doors on my closets from a hinge type to a sliding or bifold type door (I know, it's the reverse of what most people do).  The first lady I talked to took my information, and said she'd have someone call me back to schedule an estimate.  I got a call back within 10 minutes.  The representative listened to what I wanted, very honestly said that she didn't think they were the right company for it since it involved changing the type of door, and referred me to another company in my area that she thought might be able to help.

The owner showed up on time for the initial consultation.  After discussing several options, he gave me a quote which included removing and replacing 8 interior doors (including an odd-size furnace closet door) and installing hardware.  When I placed the order, I scheduled an appointment for about a week later to have the old doors removed.  On the appointed day and time, two men arrived, removed the old doors, and took exact measurements.  About a week later, my new doors arrived.  In the meantime, I had purchased the new handles.  Two men installed the new doors and where necessary adjusted door stops and trim to ensure that the doors closed tightly.  They installed my hardware and cleaned up after themselves.  Everyone was very professional and pleasant.
Five of the doors are solid core which really cut down on noise when they are closed.  Plus they feel substantial!  The doors look great.  The only unfortunate thing is because the new doors are so clean and white, I now have to paint the interior of my home!

The new doors look good.  There were some communication issues, but Glen did everything he could to solve that, and I appreciate his responsiveness.

In a word, amazing. The process was seamless from end to end. They have many options and finishes available, and the quality is superb. They were prompt, responsive and the end product is exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend this family owned company.

I do not know how my previous comments "disappeared" and ratings for price changed to "N/A" - but I will re-post them now:

I called this company to get a quote on 8 signature series doors, installed. They advertise "signature series doors" installed stating at $129 a piece. I spoke to Glenn, who is the owner. Glenn informed me that there is a minimum of 10 doors to get the special rate. He then asked me if I was looking to get this job done for less than $3,500 because, if so, it would not be happening. The special price does not include the paint on the doors, the hinges, the door hardware, the fuel charge I'd have to pay for them to get to and from my home, etc. When I pointed out to Glenn that that price was more than two times the advertised price, Glenn was very hostile, rude and condescending.

I would never do business with a company that does not advertise honestly and does not treat customers with respect. Glenn, being the owner sets the tone for the entire company. The doors that they install are inexpensive hollow core doors that are available at Lowe's Home Improvement for around $80 a piece, retail price (I imagine Glenn's wholesale cost is a lot less).

Yesterday, I got a call from Glenn. He was calling about my review. He said I must have misunderstood him, or maybe he had a bad day. He was sorry. He said he would give me a $2,000 credit towards my door project. I accepted his apology, but turned down the credit for several reasons:

1. I would not accept a credit to change my review.
2. I saw many YELP reviews from other customers that mirrored my experience, so it does not seem to me Glenn was just having a bad day or that I misunderstood, but instead seems to be his standard way of doing business.
3. What would happen if I took the credit and a month later had trouble with the product or workmanship? After dealing with Glenn the first time, I could only imagine what it would be like if there was a problem with something. I am not willing to take that chance.
4. After seeing the exact same Jen-Weld doors at Lowe's for $80 retail, I cannot see any amount of special measuring, paint or hardware that could justify a price of $350. per door. I'd rather upgrade the door quality and find someone to paint and install them at a fair price - not a company who uses bait and switch advertising tactics.

They are absolutely beautiful.  The finish on the doors is so much better than if you'd painted them yourselves.  They hauled away all of our old doors.

After initially having a strange experience with the first representative, I received a call from the president of the company who was
extremely apologetic about what happened.  He assured me that going forward our project would be handled with the utmost care and professionalism. The mere fact that he called made a huge impression on me and I want to commend Interior Door and Closet Company.

The sales rep came to my home, showed me the styles and prices of solid and standard doors. Explained how all my doors would be electronic measured for total accuracy and fit. Told me that they would be Jen Weld doors that are painted on their shop site with three baked layers of paint. I chose from their selction of handles and hardware.
The next Monday, Kyle, the technician measured and told me the installers would be here to install and take away the old doors on Friday of the same week.  All went exteremely well. The three men who did the installation were neat, polite and efficient. Jose took extra time and care when removing and installing the new pocket door.
The clean up after they were done was terrific and they completed the total job in 2 hours.
For the quality of workmanship and the convenience, I think it was a very fair price.

These folks have a great process.  They came to the house to review the job and show me their various choices for doors, paint color (shades of white) and hardware, and they provided a cost estimate.  I was encouraged to stop by the shop in Torrance to gea closer look at the door choices and the hardware, and I'm glad I did that.  I ended up selecting a different door style and I also decided to upgrade 4 of the 6 doors to solid core (heavier and a bit more sound-proof).  The install took about 2 hours and was trouble-free.  I'm very happy with my new doors.

When the gentleman came to provide an estimate, he really wanted to replace all of the interior doors in my house and then suggested I should replace the closet doors in all three bedrooms and not just the one.  He implied that it wasn't worth their time to replace only one set of doors.  But, the fact that their quote was much higher than I thought it would be, I only went with the one set of closet doors and wanted to see the end result before I would consider replacing the other closet doors.  Between my work schedule and theirs, it took awhile before the doors were actually installed.  The crew that came to install the doors were quick and efficient and did a nice job.  They even took the time to clean up after themselves.  Now that I know what to expect cost-wise, I will consider using them again to replace the remaining closet doors, when the budget allows.

Great!
Do your homework and you'll decide to use ID&C, like I did.
Their computerize measuring perfectly fits each custom cut door to each existing opening (and trust me, no two are the same).
After a short time to get the measurements of each opening, the data is uploaded to the cutting machine, which cuts and balances and makes the exact pattern for the existing hardware.  The crew then shows up at your home, matches the specific door to the opening; laser painted and hardware already in place and zap it into the opening.
The ultimate beauty is that ID&C method saves significant labor and expense and that saving is passed on to the consumer with 1/3 to 50% saving over any alternative.

Very well.
Owner visited house to assess scope and explain what they do.
We visited showroom in Torrance to see actual doors, hardware and paint colors.
They show the most popular door styles and can order others.
Colors applied in their shop paint booths are limited, but we liked the choices available.
Custom colors would have to be done on site by your painter or you supply the paint to them.
Installer took measurements on Monday and installed everything on Thursday in about five hours.
Everyone was very friendly, responsive to all questions.
They reconfirmed all orders and appointments in advance.
Installation was smooth and went as planned.
One door was damaged in delivery to their shop and had to be reordered, at no cost to us of course.
A second visit to install this door was promptly scheduled.
The installers asked our preferences for the bypass door pulls and door stops before installing.
Juan took the time necessary to adjust one lock to our satisfaction.
Everyone was cheerful, friendly and careful to do whatever was needed to make sure the job was done right.
The house was vacuumed and all doors checked with us and done on time, and as scheduled.
Not sure how much cost savings but the work is very good and a hassle free improvement to our home.

Response from Interior Door & Closet Company

"Thank you so much for taking the time to write about the experience you had with the company in Torrance that uses the same name we use. That company is located in Torrance, and they provide service to L.A. County. We're located in Huntington Beach, and we provide service to Orange County. Unfortunately, because we're in different counties, they're legally permitted to use the same name we use. I'm very sorry you had such a bad experience with them; however, we're not associated with that store. Best wishes on your project. Warm Regards, Susan Aumaier"

The price was higher than expected even after the advertised 40% discount. They were very accommodating in changing the installation schedule due to slips in our construction schedule. The actual installation went very quickly with no problems.
