He gave us some good advice about keeping the spa in good condition and was nice to work with. Definitely recommend!!
I spoke with Mike on the phone and he diagnosed the problem after asking a handful of questions. I thought I could get the job handled through my home warranty but the company the home warranty sent to me would not touch the problem and then charged me $65 for the housecall.
I called Mike back with my tail between my legs and requested that he come. He showed up the next day and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. He knew exactly what to do. Turns out the problem was not at all related to the jets but rather an old seal that had lost its seal. Very easy fix. He communicated with me through the process and showed me exactly what the problem was and how he fixed it.
He also was very communicative regarding his arrival time. He has an online booking system on his website, but he called me shortly after I scheduled myself and he asked if he could come earlier in the day based on the rest of his appointments. And then he texted me when he was actually on his way. It's such a pleasure to deal with people who provide the courtesy to communicate clearly and keep customers apprised of timing.
I'd also like to mention that Mike has a geographic territory that he prefers to work in (roughly South Bay.) But when I mentioned I had called several people who wouldn't even come to look at the issue, and then the people the home warranty company sent did nothing but charged me anyway, he was kind enough to come to my home near the Santa Monica airport.
They had done work for me before, and had done an excellent job- replacing the lens for the light and repairing the moto-massagers in a very old spa- got it working like new. These guys know their stuff!
I bought a house about 1 1/2 years ago and it came with a spa. I had no idea how to maintain a spa, so I did some reading, etc. and thought I was doing okay. I felt like a chemist with all the spa chemicals. I finally decided to contact a professional when I wanted to drain it and have it cleaned since I did not know how to do that. I researched Yelp and Angie's List and came across Classic Spa Service. I got a return call from Mike, I told him what I wanted and he was ready to come over within a couple days. I was not ready in a couple days, so he told me to book an appointment online. Booking online was a simple process and I got an email confirming it. Mike called the day before just to confirm and check out what I wanted one more time.
Mike got here a little before 9 (our scheduled time). We spend 3 hours altogether for the many services I requested. He drained the spa and discovered 4 broken jets. I had no idea, but at least they are pretty inexpensive to replace. He opened up the front of the spa to check the brain, and all the technical/mechanical stuff and found my ozone was not working and probably had not in years. I did not even know what he was talking about, but he took his time and explained it to me and the benefit of the ozone. I told him the light looked cracked from when I used the spa before. It turns out, it was just a cover on the light that someone added and was not needed, so we removed that. I'm a bit particular with service people and Mike was patient and very informative. I really appreciated that and he absolutely exceeded my expectations.
All in all, he drained, cleaned, and refilled the spa. He replaced 3 jets, because he happened to have them on the truck. The 4th jet, he sent me a link of the correct one to purchase myself, he said it just snaps in. He replaced the ozone thingee. I also had him install a new LED light that changes colors because it was cool. Yeah, sometimes you just need that. He took his time to explain what chemicals I needed and why and what ones I did not need.
He was not pushy in trying to get me to replace/change things and overall, I just felt like he was an awesome guy and really knew his stuff. I highly recommend him and will definitely be having him back to maintain my spa.
Mike was awesome and him and his wife came out to drain and clean our spa. He gave me a lot of tips of how to keep the spa clean and what chemicals I needed etc. He went out of his way to measure our spa as well as our cover is getting warn out. They were very professional, courteous and super friendly
He honored the price we talked about over the phone, even though he didn't realize it was an in-ground jacuzzi (yikes!)
I will be visiting his shop on PCH to get some chemicals for the spa and would definitely use Classic Spa again.
About 3 weeks later I noticed that there was a significant leak and water was constantly trickling out of my tub. Hot tub leaks are notoriously super expensive to repair and in some cases not worth the effort or $$. So with tremendous trepidation I scheduled a service call with Mike. He called the day of the appointment to ask if he could come early and I told him sure but I couldn't be there when he arrived but would get there as soon as possible.
When I arrived at the house Mike had been there for about 20 min and had already fixed the problem. He told me that when he arrived he was concerned that this was going to be a $2000 repair. It was then that he remembered a similar leak he had repaired 10 years ago and after confirming his suspicion he quickly repaired the leak.
The price? The cost of a service call.
Mike is not cheap, you can find a number of spa service companies whose service call prices are half of what Mike charges but the extra cost is worth it because he can fix in an hour what others may take several hours.
I will not have anyone else service my spa.. period.
