Getting window dealers to install vinyl windows is easy, but far more difficult was finding a contractor to install quality aluminum windows, which require busting out stucco down to the frame, installing custom windows, repairing stucco, wallboard, etc., and able to do the entire job. I only found three who said they could do the complete job without me finding subs for some of the work. Carl is a general contractor who later in his career is now focused on window and door installation. He also brought in his son, also a general contractor, to assist in some of the heavier work. His bid was tied for the lowest, but I chose him based on his straight forward description and explanation of what would need to be done, and the confidence I gained in meetings and discussions which included the decking contractor. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the work, and the pace. It turned out, two windows were not manufactured to spec in a way that would compromise their installation long range. I would not have known that had happened until he pointed it out. He refused to install them, contacted the manufacturer, who tried to convince him install them anyway. In no uncertain terms, the contractor convinced them to properly manufacture a new set at no charge, and highly expedited as well. When the deck contractor was slow to respond to my calls for his part to begin, he made sure the deck contractor I had hired (not Newton's responsibility) moved forward in a timely fashion and with quality work. The final installation, requiring careful overlap of existing and new waterproofing, and high quality sealing materials, was impressive, and the final work integrated with the existing stucco which included some custom design stucco work is beautiful. I was on hand to personally observe all the work (I was on summer break) and occasionally act as an assistant. I'm happy to recommend Newton to anyone considering replacing aluminum windows requiring a contractor.
