As it was a holiday weekend, I had some trouble finding anyone who would answer the phone. And I was especially worried that I would be able to convince anyone to come help. Nick stayed on the phone with me for about 15 minutes and walked me through the steps to diagnose the problem, which was the thermostat. He gave instructions as to how it should be replaced and how to get the heat on in the meantime. He made me look like a hero to my wife, and all for no charge. Thank you Nick!

I called last week and got an answering service.  I provided all of my information including 2 contact numbers and did not get a call back. In the meantime I wasted an entire day and spent the weekend in a cold house. I tried calling again today and no answer and no answering services.   I'm going elsewhere.
Response from AAA Express Heating & AC

"Thank you. We appreciated the your review. We apologize for inconvenience caused. We are sorry that could not be at your service in time, because of the answering Service we had hired in holiday Season. We still look forward to help you in near future. We were having telephone problem. calls were breaking up and some time no ring."

Nick was very punctual and return my calls in a timely manner.
There was a installation issue which I brought to his attention and he did the correction.
It was a great experience dealing with Nick

Update:  Due to some remodeling, I had to have my large A/C unit disconnected, moved out of the way, and then reconnected later.  Since I received such great service last time, I decided to call AAA Express again.  Well, they gave me a reasonable price quote and stuck with that quote.  They were very timely and did a great job.  I will continue to use them for all of my heating and A/C needs.

Owner of the company was very responsive.  And very conscientious in terms of my need to get this work done quickly.
The regulatory process with the city was not well managed by the owner but was eventually rectified w the proper info supplied to city.
The installation process was a mess as the owner seemed to be challenged to install this appropriately.
I had to hire another AC guy to make this machine work.  At this point, I learned that I was sold a unit that was inappropriate for my home and was grossly inefficient.

This job went terribly and unfortunately I am still suffering the after effects of this job. I wanted to wait to see how this job turned out in order to be fair in my review. 3 months later I have 2 air conditioning units that don't properly cool, one of which doesn't cool below 82 degrees. It's completely useless. How did this job go so terribly wrong? Here are some of the facts...
-After looking at our poorly functioning AC units Nick recommended that we replace both of them. He sent us an estimate/contract to install two 3.5 ton Goodman units.
-After we signed and gave him a $3800 deposit, Nick called the day before the install to say that the manufacturer did not have any more of those units and that we would need to upgrade for another $1000. Sounded weird, but we agreed-just wanting this job to get done.
-When Nick installed both units, paranoid and untrusting of his tactics thus far, I looked up the units to see if they were in fact an upgrade. The units were actually 3 ton units and not 3.5 ton as stated on the contract. Later Nick explained that the upgrade was in the Seer number (which is a number he had never mentioned or stated in the contract - at that point I had never even heard of seer rating)
-We turned on the newly installed machines and one unit cooled identically to the "broken" one-which questioned if we even needed to replace that unit. That AC unit is completely undersized and cannot cool the building lower that 80 degrees. Completely useless.
-The other unit is able to cool the building a bit more, but doesn't function as well as the one that was replaced. Not sure why.
-Nick had so many discrepancies and flat out lies that I discovered when looking more into the issues.
-His professional advice was completely useless as we ended up with two undersized machines.
-His poor communication skills resulted in us receiving smaller units than what we believed we were getting. I even asked him to be more specific on the contract, which he ignored and left the contract as is. That would have been a perfect opportunity to bring up Seers both in writing and in conversation.
I would never trust Nick to work on anything. I'm not sure if he is intentionally misleading his customers or if his communication skills are just horrible, but either way I didn't get what I wanted which in this case is two functioning AC units. I feel like I got totally screwed.
This job went so horribly wrong and we were left with poor or non functioning AC units.  Because of this we did not pay the rest of the balance and opted to hire another company to try and fix the mess that Nick made. I am happy to pay a company for new AC units, but how can I pay for non functioning units that were smaller that what we agreed to? Overall, I would not recommend Nick for any big jobs.

Nick and crew promptly came out and inspected and gave me a quote and estimate of the time it would take and when they would start. They started and completed the job on-time. Nick and Robert and Leon were very easy to work with and explained what they would be doing and kept me informed of the progress. I have had them back twice for additional plumbing and electrical issues. For the extent of the work they did, they were fairly reasonable priced overall about 12K in electrical, heating/AC and plumbing work. They don't nickel and dime you to death. The price they give is what they charge even if they have to do a little extra unexpected work.
I originally called them for heating and AC work and when I was complaining of the difficulty hiring an electrician, Nick informed me he was also an electrical contractor. I am glad I found them. I tried two other electricians rated highly on Angie's List, one of them didn't even show or call for our appointment, the other had no idea what he was talking about and told me it would cost upwards of 21K for what AAA Express did for12K. I highly recommend AAA Express.

It took 3 hours. He came immediately and he was reasonable. The Nick Javer is the owner. I have recommended him to others in the community as well. He was surprisingly efficient and on time. I cannot say enough about how good he was. He is the first one I would call if I ever need any heating and AC services.

AMAZING! Nick and his team were not only the least expensive of the three bids I got, but also my favorite, all the way through to the end. Nick is also a very sweet man. The new heaters worked perfectly. He even took care of some other issues without charging us extra. All around a very effective and professional company. Look forward to using them again in the future.

I contacted 3 other AC companies through Angie's list. The earliest I could have gotten someone here was Friday the 19th of October.  Today is the 16th.  I started calling around 10am.  Nick said he could be here between 12-2pm.  It was already 98 degrees outside when I called him at around 10:30 so I jumped all over it.  He got here at 12:30. They figured out I needed a new compressor and had it replaced and my AC running by 2:35. It was 89 degrees inside by the time they did.
So here is the breakdown:
$97.50 for the compressor.
$191.25 for the labor.
Don't let the $85/hr they charged for labor scare you. Here is why. Every other company charged $99 just to come out. Out of the 3 other companies I called 1 did not apply that towards the cost of the job, 1 did only if it was over $300 and the last one did apply the $99 towards the cost of repairs.  None of those companies could come out within 3 hours or same day for that matter.  It is now 100 degrees in Gardena, Ca and I have a pregnant wife, 2 dogs, and a kitten. We needed the AC fixed today.
The average cost of labor for the other 3 companies was $79/hr so an extra $6 was a no brainer.  AAA Express didn't charge any BS same day service fees and they really could have...business is booming for everyone during this heat wave.  I don't know what compressors cost, but I also don't know how to replace them myself so I am not concerned with that.
I would use these guys again. In fact I plan on calling them back up in April to do my yearly check up. They do electrical too! I know it has been less than an hour so I will up[date my review in 1 week and in a month.  I will also update it in the spring when we'll have to start using the AC again to see how long the work lasts.
Thank you AAA Express!

I have used Nick from AAA Express Heating in the past simply because he is honest, high quality, prompt and very professional.
Nick knows his stuff, comes out quickly at the time he says he will be here.  He then always goes the extra mile to suggest to me the best solution given price/value.  In this particular case it would have cost $2500 to replace the whole heating unit.  Nick investigated and said he could replace the motor and temperature unit and I should still get at least 3-4 years out of the unit.
I said great Nick, let's do that.  He promptly began research to find the needed parts after coming to my house to investigate my unit.  He said it would take 3-4 days.
Only a day later he called to say he found the part and can come install it if it is convenient for me.  He came promptly at the time promised and replaced all needed parts and checked out the entire unit.
After all of that I was surprised to learn that his final bill was $150 less than his original quote.  Wow!  Thanks for the honesty!
Top notch repair and service.  Will continue to use him for all of my needs.  Highly recommended

Nick installed a new heater in 2003, I have called him any time I need service.  He is always prompt, professional and very fair with his charges.  Every time I have called him he has done excellent work, never leaving any mess at all, very honest as to what needs to be done and never pushes any unnecessary  charges.  I trust him totally and happily refer him to anyone that wants an honest, reliable and hard working service provider.

They came to the house checked out the heater as it wasn't working, he found out the circuit board wasn't working, he had installed a new part, but found out that wasn't the problem.  He removed said part and did some tests, then saw something that didn't look good and suggested I replace all the heater ducts in the attic.  Like I said they came in and everything was securely wrapped, no mess and installed and updated my attic ducts.  The heater now works properly, I would have them do work for me again.
