Hurst put a bondo like substance between the joints on the installed fiber cement lateral siding in order to obtain a seamless look at the joints. This went against Nichia's manufacturer instructions and was a design detail that I and my design representatives were ambivalent about and did not initiate. Within a year, the paint very visibly separated from all joints where the "bondo' was applied. Gerry Hurst came to the site to inspect this and took no responsibility stating that the job was out of warranty which was not true (application error and I was within one year.) Senior Benjamin Moore paint rep made a site visit (taking pictures and samples) and confirmed the wrong material was used. I gave Hurst painting the opportunity to repair this work but he refused to do so. I then had my last phase painter (new structure) clean out the joints of "bondo" and repaint at significant expense to me. In addition, my general contractor approved an "hourly' arrangement with Hurst for portions of the job on this multi-million dollar project (in violation of our GC agreement but I felt Hurst should know better.) when I learned of this, I stopped it and felt the 2 painters were very slow but good. So many other good painters out there..... avoid.
