Tried to sell me equipment I did not need and disconnected the internal part of my AC unit. When the person I hired for second opinion came out he could not believe what they had done to my unit and they got it back up and working. It has gone through two more summers since that last experience with The General.

They always do a good job. They take their time and explain what is going on in a way you can understand. I feel they are honest and don't try to push things on you.

They are way over priced. The issue is, I asked them to give me a quote on other work to be done and they gave me an outrageous quote of $16000. I found another air conditioning company that took a look at the same thing and first of all, told me I didn't need half of what General told me, and they could do the other half at a much reduced price.

Their regular maintenance cost is not that outrageous, but if you ask them to do something more complicated, watch out.

I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD LENNOX WHICH WAS EMITTING A TERRIBLE ODOR WHEN AIR CONDITIONING ON. THIS UNIT WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED BY ANOTHER COMPANY. I HAD HEARD "THE GENERAL" WAS AN EXCELLENT COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH SO I CALLED ON A SATURDAY NEVER THINKING ANY ONE WOULD BE THERE HOWEVER, TO MY SURPRISE A VERY NICE YOUNG LADY ANSWERED, AND HELPED ME IMMENSELY.(THAT DAY I BECAME A "GENERAL" CUSTOMER.) SHE MADE AN APPOINTMENT. IVAN CAME OUT(HE WAS PRECISE, AND EFFICIENT) TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, AND WITHIN 30 MINUTES SAID IT WAS EXCESSIVE RUSTING, AND THAT LENNOX WAS CONTACTED, AND WOULD SHIP A NEW COIL TO THEM TO BE INSTALLED AS SOON AS IT ARRIVED. A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS CALLED AND, TIM D AND GABE CAME, BOTH DID A FANTASTIC, AND THOROUGH JOB. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL, AND PLEASANT. THE NEW COIL WAS INSTALLED, AND NOW EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD, NO MORE ODOR, AND I AM SO HAPPY. MAY I SAY IT IS SO REASSURING TO KNOW "THE GENERAL" WILL BE THERE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK IN CASE I EVER HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM.

I called and they were there within 2 hours.  Service representative Sergio made a very thorough inspection and explained our options.  We were happy to find out that the installation could be done the next day.  They arrived promptly at 9 and never stopped til the job was done.  Our installer Greg, Jonathan and Uriel were very experienced and very hardworking.  It was a pleasure to have them in our home.  They meticulously went over the operation of the unit and made sure we understood the WI FI controlled thermostat which we love.  Probably the best thing about these men was to hear how much they liked what they were doing and the esteem they had for their employer who pays well and provides excellent benefits as well as ongoing training in their field.  You don't hear that very often.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.  They also have an ongoing service contract which I have used for years in the past.

The serviceman originall came to my home over one week ago to anyalize why my A/C was not working. He determined hat the coil had a leak and need to be replaced. I had bought this top of the line A/C in 2012 from General Air. The serviceman told me that the replacement coil was covered under warantee but the labor cost for replacing the coil would be over $1,000. The serviceman said he would call me later in the day to let me know if the part was in stock, or, if it had to be ordered, when I could expect it. The service man did not call me back. When the serviceman did not call back, I called Gener Air the following day. The office personnel told me she would check on the coil and call me back that same day. She didn't call me back. The following day she did call to tell me the coil was on order and she would let me know when it arrived. She didn't! A couple of days later, I called again to find out when my A/C would be repaired. The office person said that the coil had arrived so we scheduled an appoimtment between 12: - 2: PM on Wednesday of the following week. On Wednesday between 12: 2:00 PM, the service man still had not arrived and I had received no phone call from General Air. After the appointment time had passed, I called General Air to find out if the serviceman was going to come. The office person said that he was on his way. Thirty five minutes later, they arrived.

Unfortunatelly, this is a repeat performance. When I originally purchased this Lennox Signature Series A/C from General Air back in 2012, I went through these same issues. Their work is good but General Air has customer service issues that haven't been addressed by their management. Regardless of what their radio commercials say, it isn't true.

This is going to be my last experience with Generl Air

Another person came out to evaluate our heating and A/C system. Oh, the problems he found that could easily be resolved by buying their $15,000 system. Or, resolved by buying their $12,000 system. I explained to the salesperson that I didn't have that kind of money.

Regarding the very ("VERY") low Freon, I had the home warranty contractor come out, and the technician said the Freon level is fine. It doesn't need to be recharged (for several hundred dollars). This leads me to believe General trains their technicians to upcharge on any service call.

I purchased their service contract, and they came back in the late fall to service the furnace portion of the system. The service technician proceeded to tell me that parts were missing from the system and my furnace needed immediate attention. Since the home warranty contractor said the furnace looked okay, I presumed this was another attempt by General to solicit additional business from unsuspecting customers.

I will never use General Heating and Air again.

We've had The General install two different air conditioners over the last year and a half and were very impressed with their professionalism and installation.  We heard they were good and then when we went through Costco to purchase our air conditioner they were the company that was associated with the program.  We also purchased one from them outside of the Costco program as well

This company is extremely professionally run. We contacted them from the Lennox website. They are also the Lennox rep from Costco for this area. Our sales rep was very thorough, asking questions to understand what we were looking for, suggesting options, and making changes as we researched and considered what we we needed. We decided to replace all our units to be more efficient and quieter and worked with our sales rep on what types of units made the most sense. Before the install they came to the house to scope out the work, even going into the crawl space to see our current infrastructure. This work minimized changes and surprises during the install.
They accommodated our installation date, even starting work on a Saturday. The work was extremely thorough and professional. The team puts on shoe coverings when entering the house. They cleaned up after themselves. They have someone repair the damaged drywall (from the ceiling crawl space since the units were too big to easily remove). They took away all the removed parts. They got the proper city permits to have the work done. They trained us on how to use our new thermostats. Jason and Nate were the leads on our project and explained thoroughly what they were doing. They discussed what they found during the install that required small changes to our initial plan. They were very easy to talk to about the options and tradeoffs.
All employees are employees, not contractors. They are drug-tested and background-checked. They also participate in a profitsharing program, incenting them to do the work properly. If something isn't right they will work with us to make it right. We learned all this by talking with them during the sales and installation process.
I expect to get a call for their maintenance plan. That's part of any smart heating/air company's business, just like a car dealer wants you to get your oil changed with them. Since we paid the same as a car for this install we're likely to use them for maintenance. Who else knows the system better than those who installed it?
Yes, they cost more than others. But if you want a job done right by people you're comfortable having in your house with systems that will last, use The General.

It was clear I needed a whole new 5 ton HVAC system. I was introduced to General through the Costco program. I figured that if the pricing was reasonable and I had the extra comfort of Costco as an intermediary if something was amiss they would be a good choice. I obtained 4 bids. Two of the bids were quite low but those firms, albeit reputable, would do the work without a permit. I wanted the comfort of the city inspection and the added incentive on the service provider to know that someone with knowledge would be reviewing their work.
General was the highest bid, even after consideration of the Costco rebate. After some negotiating General included some extra features and their bid was then approximately consistent with the other bid which included the permits. The salesperson, Estee was technically competent and understood my concerns and really worked hard to get our deal done. She then followed up to make sure all arrangements were made to my satisfaction and kept me posted on the full process.
On the day of the install, the install team identified a major design problem with the initial construction of the duct work some 30 years earlier. They devised a work around the problem and spent 2-3 man hours plus materials creating alternative duct work while not destroying and finish work at the house. The arrangement was a fixed price to get the system installed and pass the permit process. They didn't ask for any extra fees for the extra work they clearly did not anticipate. (We of course bought dinner and refreshments for the crew).
They knew before they started that the install had to be completed in one day due to some travel issues on my part. They started at about 9 AM and finished at about 10:30PM. The install specs included a specialized filter - on the day of the install they didn't have that one so they brought an upgraded one with no extra charge to me.

We felt that we were being rushed into a new system and heard later that The General is known for their outrageously high prices for everything. We couldn't say that the service isn't good because we never got that far.

He did come out on the weekend, but the price is absurd!  On top of
everything, he did not use the correct part and had to bastardize a part
to make it work.  Needless to say I will not be using them again, and
will discourage friends and family from using them as well.

I have used General on an annual contract basis for both my residence and a rental property for the last four years. They have always been prompt, professional and extremely qualified to do the job.The servicemen are courteous and know what they are doing. They have respect for your home and you time. The office people are professional and friendly and are always able to help with any questions or scheduling. I would not use anyone else.

We are very happy with the job. They did an excellent job. The person they sent out to give us a bid on the job really knew what she is talking about and they sent a very large crew to the installation and they did a spectacular job. They checked all the duct. They made adjustments to the airflow aside from installing the equipment.

We have a maintenance agreement with them. I liked the workers but not the management. We also had them do Zoning in our house which allows us to, we actually have like five thermostats so we could set like our guest room, one bathroom and the laundry room. Their services are poor. The only reason I am still with these people is because I am tied into the warranty on the Zoning machines. Once the warranty is up I am out. Their prices are higher than the other people. They figure out the problem but they take a long time to fix it. They are not punctual. They show up but they are always late. I would not recommend General Air Conditioning and Heating to others.
