John Doty Electric

My wife hired John to install some lights in the front exterior of our home. The job was done and a month later all of our exterior lights just stopped working. My wife and I have left John numerous messages, made numerous calls and he hasnt responded to any of them. The only reason I agreed to use him is because my wife claimed to know his daughter and felt she could trust him. If I had known he wasnt licensed or insured like Angieslist claims I would never have agreed to have him do the work. I've tried to troubleshoot the issues but Im not an electrician. Like the poster before me, he seems to have just fallen off the face of the earth. I hope he's alright, health wise, and will gladly change my review if he would just call us back and fix what we paid for.

We had a small problem - one of the circuit breakers in the panel kept clicking off.  I called John.  He had other projects, so could not come right away - but was very good at updating me on schedule changes.  He came at the promised time, did the job quickly.  Took pains to tell me "If you have any problem with this, call me."  And, he didn't charge too much.  He was competent, straightforward, and reasonably priced.  Plus, a genuinely nice guy.  He'll be my "go to guy" for any electrical problems in the future.

Excellent work. John is a pleasure to deal with. He has done work for me in the past. He is always my first choice when calling an electrician. I believe he is very honest. The only drawback is that sometimes it takes a week or so to get a call back after leaving a service request message on his answering machine. I guess John is busy, but it would be nice to get a call back within 24 hours so I could get an idea of what time frame I'm looking at. I would recommend John for any electrical work.

I live out of the area and called several different electricians who service the camarillo area where i own a townhome that my daughter lives in. We needed two ceiling fans installed in upstairs bedrooms of 1990 town home.John responded promptly, gave realistic estimate over phone and was there promptly within a few days as agreed to install the fans.
Since i wasn't on premise John worked with my daughter. He also had to go to home depot since the parts i ordered online hadn't arrived in time . He was a polite, excellent professional whom i would highly recommend to anyone! His prices were fair and better than some other estimates.

We found Mr. Doty to be a very professional individual and also quite persoanble. His work ethics are exemplary. He did a great job and felt that he gave us a fair price for the job. We had him come back in a week and change out the kitchen potlights with a dimmer switch. He will now be our electrician and we will only call him for all other work needed.

John is a VERY professional electrician as well as a genuine person. I have used him for electrical work several times now. He responds to phone calls promptly and always arrives at the time he commits to. His prices are always fair. He does quality work and will never take a short cut to complete a job. When necessary to cut into dry wall for wiring projects, his repair of the dry wall is always top notch, which allows for easy repair and preparation for texturing and painting. He always cleans up after his work. I would HIGHLY recommend him for all of your electrical needs.

The service was outstanding. He had excellent pricing, and he was a great guy to work with. I would highly recommend him. Make John your first call if you need an electrician.

He came and gave us an estimate. About two weeks later, I asked him to do the work. He did the work in a couple of hours, and everything is good.

It was a very good experience. John does all the work himself. He had some creative solutions to problems that the other electricians didn't want to be bothered with. I got three other bids and his was the lowest. John is a very personable guy and a hard worker.

He owns the business and does all the work. He is excellent, very honest, conscientious and has fair pricing. Sometimes you have a hard time getting a hold of him, but for a planned job he is great.
