I approached the owner in February with the work and he indicated it would be no problem to deliver the completed chairs by the 2nd week of March, 3 weeks. I selected the fabric which the owner had on hand and the style of new cane to be installed. The chairs were completed and the owner sent me to the upholsterer's establishment to inspect them prior to taking delivery. The fabric looked good but the cane backing was unsatisfactory. On all but one chair there were at least 3 strands of cane that were already broken at the edge. The cane was the first element to deteriorate on these chairs. And they had used the wrong weaving of cane that had been selected for this job. The spindle was yet to be completed. Upon the second completion of the cane, the owner again asked me to inspect the work at the upholsterer's establishment and I replied that he knew what I was looking for and that he should inspect the work and make sure the details were to his standards and satisfaction. The chairs were finally delivered to my residence and they looked good. There were still a couple of broken and some hot glued strands of cane. The owner knew I was dissatisfied with all of the delays and process of the work and he dismissed the final payment of $150 for the spindle work. I gave a high mark for professionalism because the owner did make good on the defective cane and realized the poor work progress had become a significant factor in customer satisfaction.
We spent our time on selecting fabrics and finishes, not on getting other quotes. Pricing seemed reasonable.
We worked with 3 or 4 different designers there to help in fabric selection both in the store and in our home.
Danny and team were always helpful, gave us professional opinions of what would work and what would not.
Results are very good.
The delivery people, installers, refinishers and upholsterers were always pleasant to work with and concerned that things be done right.
