AWFUL EXPERIENCE. We contacted American Leak Detection to help with confirming the existence of a leak, and identifying the location/source. Our service call took place on 12/20/2023 at 8a. The field technician went through their standard procedures for identifying and locating the issue. As the technician was wrapping up, we noticed that our kitchen faucet (which was NOT part of the service call) was no longer working. No water coming out. We have had NO issues with the kitchen faucet. The technician attempted to fix the issue, but was unable to do so. We were told to call a service plumber. I have since spoken to the office, as well as the owner (Gary), and was told that American Leak Detection will NOT pay for service plumber. In short: - Our kitchen faucet worked without any issue - American Leak Detection worked on identifying a leak issue in another part of the house - Now our kitchen faucet no longer works - American Leak Detection is refusing to pay for the service plumber to fix the issue that ALD caused

The guy did a BEAUTIFUL job pouring the new concrete. Explained how the new skimmer works. Cleaned up the job site well. The gentlemanI was professional and knowledgeable. I had to call the company back about the pool pump possibly working differently since the new skimmer was placed. The employee phoned me back, took time to answer my question (coincidental - no causation). Great service. Even the receptionist gal who answers the phone was pleasant and nice to speak with. Will definitely use this company again.

I suspected a leak in the shower pan, and needed to confirm it. Provider had tools and techniques to do the job effectively and efficiently, and left no questions unanswered.

They were very professional, but they were a bit too expensive to do the work. However, if you need to find a leak, they are the people to call.

A technican came to my home in West Hills and did the tests outlined above. A leaking crack was found in the spa between the coping and the top of the tile. The tests were done while the guy who services my pool was there. This all started when my tenant contacted me because the water in the pool had dropped significantly in a short period of time. I had noticed on one of my visits to the home that. the interlocking pavers had buckled and would need repair, so the leak in the spa made sense that it had caused the sand underneath the pavers to erode and therefore the pavers buckled. The water to the spa was turned off, but the pool contined to be filled and everything was fine and this gave me a chance to get bids on repairing the pavers and fixing the leak in the spa.
I had a licensed contractor do the paver repair and fix the spa based on the final report by American Leak Detection. After the work was completed and we waited the requisite amount of time, the water to the spa was turned on. Almost immediately the water in the pool dissipated and I seemed to be back to square one.
I contacted American Leak Detection about the problem and was told there was a 30 day warranty on the testing. I had done the repairs based on their findings and it turns out that there was probably two souces of leaks. I will now have to have the pavers taken up to do more repair work. The owner of the franchise offered $75.00 off another testing, but that would be foolish of me to trust them again.
It seems that my problem was trusting American Leak Detection's findings. I hope no one else makes that mistake.
Response from AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION - NW LOS ANGELES COUNTY

"American Leak Detection went out on February 20, 2013 to perform leak detection on a pool and spa combination. Prior to the leak detection, the member agreed to and signed a work authorization form. The work authorization form details the scope of work being performed and warranties included. It states: "All detection work is guaranteed for a maximum of 30 days from the date of original detection. Thereafter, the normal charge will apply to any work needed. It is important for you to monitor for signs of further leakage after repairs are made. If signs of a leak occur within 30 days of the original leak detection, we will re-test the system at no charge. If a re-test is requested after 30 days and the cause of the leak is not covered by the ALD warranty, our normal rate will apply". It has been 3 months since the leak detection was performed. Our office did offer the member a discount on a new leak detection service in which she felt was unacceptable. The warranty of the leak detection is clearly stated not just once but twice in the work authorization form she agreed to and signed."

He got in the pool and spent about 4 hours looking everywhere, using about 3-4 different strategies to find the leak. He found a leak in the light fixture and no where else. It was $350 for the inspection and $300 to fix the leaky light fixture, which he did. So far the pool has been holding water. I've done a bucket test, and the water was at the exact same level for 2 days. I'm doing another bucket test to confirm, but so far, so good.

Overall it was horrible experience, the company was dishonorable, dishonest and I'd have to say more than a trifle creepy.

He spent about an hour and told us beforehand how much it would cost. We were pleased with the work even though he didn't find a leak. We believe him in that there was no leak. He was very professional and I would have no hesitation in referring the company.

COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF. ARRIVED WITHIN WINDOW STATED AND WAS THOROUGH WITH THE INSPECTION. WE FOUND THE INSPECTION PRICEY - $275.00 - AND IN THE END OUR INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT COVER THE LEAK DUE TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT WAS LONG TERM IN NATURE.
