Wine Country Home Improvement

We were going to sign the contracts on Saturday afternoon and Wine Country Home Improvement was going to start working on Monday. I received the invoice on Saturday morning the cost of the project had gone from about 40,000 to over 65,000.00 ($25,000.00 higher than original quote). We didn’t change any of the design or materials and the wall was NOT load bearing. We thought it was an error. When we question Wine Country Home Improvement why the budget went up $25,000.00 I was told it was a kitchen remold and that usually cost about 65K. After digging into it a little more we found out that Wine Country Home Improvement was going to charge us about $25,000.00 to knock down and rebuild a 4-foot non-load bearing wall. I told them we couldn’t do the project because this was over our 40K budget. We had communicated our budget from the beginning. A couple days later Wine Country Home Improvement came back to us said they would only charge us the original quote and they could do the project for about 40K. At this point we didn’t trust Wine Country Home Improvement. What if they started the job something came up now that would cost us $25,000.00 more? On top of all of this it took over 2 months of emails and phone calls to get 400.00 of our original 2,500.00 deposit money back. You would think that they would want to correct things and make things right as soon as possible. I wouldn’t trust Wine Country Improvement they are not honest with their pricing. My hope is that no one will go through the process like we did to only be disappoint and over charge at the end! We ended up having Dave and James at Premier Stone and Tile ( [*** Link removed ***] ) price and materials were better in the end!
