I will go into greater detail later as I am in the middle of moving and will include pictures. Lots of pictures. I want to make sure my poor review is posted before another person has a bad experience due to an Angie's List recommendation. My cabinets look awful. The finish is uneven, many cabinets were not cleaned before they simply sprayed a layer of satin finish with no stripping, sanding or cleaning. Dust and crud is now sealed in. Doors were put back on crooked or uneven with its mate and several don't close any more. Hinges are crooked and uneven. Some of the finish flakes right off. They had to extend their work into a second day and I had to repeatedly point out what needed to be done. Numerous times, they declared they were done and I'd find cabinets not done AT ALL. As in not even cleaned much let 'stripped, sanded, primed, stained and sealed' where needed. He tried to say it had been done, but I made a line in the dust on the surface to show that it was obviously not done. Then he wiped it with a rag and sprayed some satin spray and called it done. Sigh. Two different pieces of trim were split and separating from the cabinets and not repaired whatsoever when they said they were finished yet again. Really, you call that a completed, restored and renewed cabinet?? I eventually sent them on their way when I realized they simply weren't going to restore my cabinets as promised. I showed them time and time again all the problems and they just sprayed more satin spray on the spots instead of really sanding or 'restoring.' It was only getting worse and I didn't want any further damage being done. It was time to cut my losses and get them out of there. Once they left, we realized EVERYTHING in the kitchen was covered in a fine layer of dried polyurethane spray - the silverware, the dishes, the glasses, the kitchen table, the floor, the window, the screen, everything. We are having to use disposables until I figure out how to get all this stuff clean. I'm not sure what to do about the table. This experience has been simply awful.

I found The Refinish Artist in the yellow pages and had a great experience. The work was done a day a head of time, and they were courteous and effecient. Paul worked with me until we hit on exactly the look I wanted. He has a great eye. His sons do a great deal of the "hands on" labor, and they are excellent. They cleaned up as much as was possible every night, and were pleasant to be around. I am very glad that I found them! It was a great deal less expensive than new cabinets, or even new cabinet doors. Plus, I have a truly custom look. We found the odors and dust to be minimal, and mostly gone by evening.
