Eian Estes sold me on a very detailed description of the work he was to complete and the proven results of this particular method he would perform over a 3 day time frame which was to involve grading a long steep driveway that had extensive winter weather damage including deep ruts and extensive erosion. His assurance was that if I agreed to hire him to do this driveway improvement/fix it would be â hard like Concrete upon completion using his proven method of first using his backhoe to smooth it getting deep enough to straighten all bumps/ruts then bring in his water truck and soak the entire driveway till it was mud down 12â (one foot) then let that 12â deep of mud dry for a day or enough that he would then bring in his steam roller to compact it and if needed grade/smooth it again water again and compact again and the end result was to be Hard like cement! He said. Wow!! it sounded great to me and he got the job! However, as much as I was impressed by his plan and the results he promised I watched as he smoothed the driveway, watered a little and compacted in only one and half days!! No 3 day job as explained of deep grading to smooth the ruts or soaking with water down to 12â of mud to let dry a day or till ready to steam roll and compact so it would be â hard like cement upon completion!!! I questioned him when he presented me with the bill about why he didnt do the job as he initially described to me with the soaking down 12â and he said my drive was hard enough! I then asked for a reduced price since he didnt take 3 days but only one and a half days.no price reduction! He wanted full payment even though he didnt complete all the steps he said he was going to do to improve and fix it â hard like concrete . It has only been a few weeks and already itâ s getting bumpy again because he didnt grade down deep enough below the ruts and bumps and he didnt apply enough water to soak the ground down 12â so didnt require the 24 hours or so to dry before bringing in the steam roller to compact it well. He left me with a very soft driveway that is already breaking down with just my personal use! My gardener came up to trim a tree and the driveway broke down just from his pickup weight! So I called Eian Estes last night to let him know his job was not acceptable and gave him the opportunity to return to do the job as he initially described to me or return my full monies paid to hire someone that was honest and had integrity for their work as this driveway, as he did it, would be a big mess on day one of winter rain. He didnt offer to return to do the driveway properly as originally bid and only offered half my money back stating the other half went to fuel and equipment moving costs! I explained to him I considered those expences to be his loss as he is the one who made the decision to cut corners not doing the job as originally bid and described therefore not giving me the promised end result of a driveway â hard like concreteâ . He has not returned any money for me to have the driveway redone so now I must take legal action against him. Do not hire this guy as he is all talk and promises of good end results but all lies and no honesty or integrity in his work ! Obviously no warranty for his work to be as promised! BTW..,, I had been told by others who bid on this driveway improvement/fix job that I needed more material but when Eian bid the job I asked him if I needed more material and he replied, â Oh No â ¦ you dont need more material you have plenty of material here for me to work with. Now, last night, he says I needed more material!!! Eian when you read this please refund all my money I paid you for this poor unacceptable soft driveway job and shame on you for not standing behind the job you did and got paid in full for!!!
