It was a great pleasure to deal with them. They price was very competitive (among other A+ rated contractors). They workers are very nice, always showed up on time, and did they job very well. There was no problem communicating with theirs contractors, as the main guy spoke english very well. Overall, everything went very smoothly, according to the schedule, and they cleaned up everything when they were done.
If I would need to change floors ever again, I will go with Royal Oak Hardwood floors again without any doubt.
I wish it was that easy to work with all contractors.

We remodeled our house and decided to install a new hardwood floor in our entire house (excluding the two kid rooms). I have to say the professional service was just perfect from the very first visit to the end of getting it all done. Royal Oak had to demolition a significant amount of old tiles, installing the hardwood which included the stairs and getting it all nicely cleaned at the end. Everybody who comes into our house comments on the beauty of the hardwood, which as well Royal Oak helped us selecting. They even followed up after everything was done and asked if there are any follow up touch up to do?
I had already a lot of different hardwood floor installations in my previous homes but that one was by far the best. I am not sure if I paid a bit more or not but I know that my floor after 6 month looks like on the first day. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I am sure if I ever have a problem they will take care of it.
Thanks again for all your work.

My husband and I recently bought our first house, and to put it simply, the floors were atrocious. There were literally 6 different types of flooring in our main living area. On top of that, underneath some of the flooring was the original hardwood flooring that had unfortunately been cut apart in some areas by the previous owners. And so began our quest to find a reputable hardwood floor installer...
From the moment my husband and I met Beau (the owner), we could tell that he was a family man at heart and that his family business was dedicated to provide great work. He discussed the option of trying to salvage the original hardwood floors vs. starting from scratch and installing engineered hardwood floors instead. We ended up going with the latter as cost-wise, both would come out to be similar. Beau took into account our current and future lifestyles (kids and dogs) as well as our budget, so choosing the engineered hardwood floor was an easy choice.
Lori helped us choose the different flooring, and she was amazing. She is incredibly patient and responsive with any questions you might have.
Eddie and his guys did an incredible job installing our floors. He is meticulous at his craft and very knowledgable and willing to explain what he is doing/describing any other options.
I LOVED how our floors turned out, and especially loved how our stairs and updated railing turned out. I may have literally squealed when I came home from work and saw the flooring for the first time... :)
What really seems to set Royal Oak apart from the other companies (and we are only assuming, since we've never had hardwood floors installed by anyone else), is that customer service is their #1 goal and they will not rest until you are 100% happy with your flooring. We will definitely use them again in the future for our hardwood floor needs, and recommend them without hesitation.

These guys are the rock stars of hardwood flooring! I give Royal Oak an A+. I have a mid century house with an addition onto the living room. The house originally had hardwood thought out but they didn't add it in the addition area and carpeted the whole house. Also a former owner put down black and white vinyl squares with industrial strength glue, what a mess you would of thought the hardwood was ruined! Oh and there was some old wood rot to deal with in the sub flooring, which Royal Oak fixed for me at no additional cost. They did a wonderful job, laid in new hardwood and feathered it into the old flooring, sanded and stained and now you can't even tell the wood in the addition flooring is not original to the house. They also moved the furniture and brought it all back in and even hooked up the entertainment system. The guys doing the work are very professional and courteous and it was no problem having them here during the project. I would recommend Royal Oak to anyone thinking of getting new or restored hardwood flooring. If I had known how reasonable and easy it is to get floors done I would of done it years ago. I wish all the contractors I have dealt with over the years were as good to work with as Royal Oak.

Beau was completely on time with his estimate appointment, more than accommodating to my schedule, and his staff did a great job in every aspect. Most important to me, his staff had to install some new boards in the existing wood floors in the hall where there had been an old floor heater originally (there was just a piece of plywood over a hole that had been covered with carpet), and also an area in the den where there had originally been a wall (same thing...plywood over holes in the foundation). You would not know there had even been a repair, that is how good the new parts of the floor blend with the old floors that have been there since 1950!.

First, I would like to say that "The Curse" has been broken. What I mean by this is, over the last several years I have had nightmare experiences with contractors. My experience with Beau and his skilled team was excellent. Our lead crew was Ramone and Rafael, who were consummate professionals, not to mention so kind and friendly. At one point during the job there were about 10 guys working throughout the house. Even during all the chaos the guys would be laughing, singing, always very good energy. They were on-time everyday, and did a great job at keeping things as neat and clean as possible. I can't say enough about Beau (and Laurie too). Truly a rare breed of professionals. So conscientious about the customers needs, going that EXTRA mile to make sure you are COMPLETELY happy. So rare these days. The floors are gorgeous and the custom stairs are a perfect match. IMPORTANT FACT: ALL the employees have worked for Beau not less than 10 years. Great job!

We received proposal from 3 installers on this project. During the initial selection, Shawn answered all our questions and was very patient. Once we decided to go with Royal Oak, Shawn walked us through the project, what are the different activities involved and when will they be completed. Since we had to work during the last week of december, we requested Shawn to help us install during that time. He and Junior started the work, they helped us to move furniture around and was very much flexible with our work schedule during that time.
The team ensured that the process was as smooth as possible going one room after other so that we can use the room once the installation was complete. The project was almost as planned, but got delayed by few days since there were holidays in between impacting the continuity as well as material shortage. There were of course couple of glitches that resulted in shortage of materials as well:
1. Couple of bedrooms were not perfect straight lines, so they encountered more wastage than the normal
2. Apparently they missed including one of the closet (~50sft) in the initial measurements r
During this whole churn, I believe Shawn was very remorseful and helped us by ordering extra materials and also not charging installation for the missed closet. Overall, though installing the floors while being at the home is painful, Shawn and Junior made it a very smooth experience. I'd definitely recommend Shawn for anyone planning to install flooring. Thank you Shawn!

The floor is beautiful now. It was badly discolored and damaged but we were very pleased with the results. Some other companies we contacted said they would not be able to restore this floor. This was a difficult and time consuming job because it would be easy to ruin an engineered wood floor by sanding through the thin wood veneer. This job was costly but cheaper than replacing the existing wood floor. We're glad we hired the experts.

Their attention to detail and workmanship was excellent. The owner (who came to do estimate) is very personable and cares about the quality of his craft. You need to go to the showroom to pick out the flooring (and take home samples). The work was done quickly, without being rushed. The workers were careful with our walls and respectful of our furniture. And you can immediately use the floors - no wait time! We would recommend them hands down. Price was reasonable but not the cheapest bid. Still, worth it to get quality product and quality work!

We worked with Shawn PIllar out of the San Jose office. The experience was exceptional. Shawn went out of his way to find a match for our discontinued hardwood floors. The price and finished product were excellent. Shawn was on time, easy to work with and went out of his way to make us happy. I have had alot of experience with contractors and if every project were this easy I would not hesitate to do more work on my house. Thank you Shawn!

Extremely pleased with the results. Our old hardwood floors look beautiful. It was a pleasure to work with Beau as he is very personable. He is very knowledgeable about the hardwood flooring and very concerned with customer satisfaction. He was very prompt to answer questions or concerns we had about the floors and the process. Three brothers -- Jesus, Luis, and Diego - were the team that refinished our floors. They were quick, efficient and also knowledgeable and skilled in making our floors look great. For us, the entire process took almost a week because we lived in the house while the floors were being worked on. Half of our furniture was upstairs while the downstairs floors were refinished and vice/versa. If you can avoid that, do! Because of our circumstances that was the best option for us. Even so, Beau and his team always made sure we could live in the house. The fumes and dust were at a minimum and I was pleasantly surprised. The team covered all of our furnishings in plastic, as well as vents, closets, doorways, window treatments, etc. They even dealt with moving our large upright piano.
It was a long week for us but the results were well worth it. I just wish my dog had the same respect for the newly finished floors as we do!
I recommend Royal Oak Hardwood Flooring.

It went beautifully! The installers were very professional, helpful and diligent. They worked overtime on a few nights to finish the rooms.
The whole installation went beautifully and I still can't believe I have these beautiful floors in my house. The flooring makes my rooms like they are in the magazine, House Beautiful.
Everyone who visits can't believe the change in the interior because of the flooring.
I must say everyone at Royal Flooring were very polite, efficient and knowledgeable. I would recommend them highly. The company does a very good job!

These are the guys you want to do your hardwood floors! The owner Beau came out and talked with us for over an hour on the estimate. You can tell he has hardwood floors in his blood. Both his older sons work with him in the business. I love family owned business where people actually take pride in their work. We went with the Angie List #1 rated company. You have to be good to be the #1 rated on Angie?s List. We went to visit the store and they explained the new type of wood flooring that doesn?t need to be sanded. We confirmed with our friend that remodels high end million dollar homes and she agreed the brand was the best in the market.
We had the old fashion wood floors downstairs that when installed required sanding. The upstairs matches the downstairs floors. He said we don?t even have to move the beds or furniture upstairs. His team just moves the furniture to one side of the room and completes that area of floor and moves it back. We thought we?d have to remove everything from upstairs, but they re-arranged everything with no damages to anything. The guy who did the stairs was a specialist and took his time. He left before we could give him a $100 tip, since his work is that of an artist! I love people that take pride in their work! People are shocked when they come in and see the new stairs! We have a yellow lab and two boys 10 and 12 and love the floors and new stairs!
Two thumbs up to Beau and his team!

I purchased a short sell home that needed a lot of fixing. I used several group of handyman for roofing. After that experience (long story), I went and subscribed to Angie's List to get some really professional to do the work. My advise: you save some money with handyman in the shortrun, but if you have to redo their bad work, it'll cost you just as much or more. The handyman wanted to do my hardwood floor and they gave me a quote. Lucky I wrote to Shawn and his quote was just the same.
Their are a lot of choices out their for hardwood floor but after reading through all the reviews and getting a good quote (when compared to my handyman), I decided to have Shawn do the work. We setup a time and date. Shawn and two of his employees showed up and got straight to work. They worked hard and did a wonderful job. I am very happy with their work.
Their were a few extra things that needed to be done but Shawn was pretty straight forward and never did I feel pressure to have the extra things done. Initially I wanted to have one coat of sealer followed by two coats of bona traffic (standard). I had a few gallons of bona traffic left but I did not want to put the third traffic HD on as I've read that the floor can look like a gym floor. However, Shawn reassured me that with the satin coat, that will not occur. I opted for the third coat and my floor looks good with three coat.

Shawn and crew have really done an amazing job in terms of transforming my living room and kitchen floors.
Very professional in every interaction, took additional effort and time in explaining the pros and cons of every decision, obtaining feedback from us after hours and helped us pick the right kind of wood and finish
Shawn was on time at every appointment and kept us appraised, no surprises
Quote was priced competitively, both in terms of service and raw material which was good quality Brazilian cherry. Delivered multiple finished samples to help us decide on the finish. All work completed according to schedule, and even returned back in timely fashion to finish transitions that were held up due to other projects.
Having seen a lot of floors, we are very pleased with our floor and the overall experience. I would use Royal Oak again and highly recommend working with Shawn for quality flooring.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this company! From the Office Manager, the owner (who personally visited daily for inspection), to the installers. Their website says they leave all rooms livable at the end of each workday and it's the truth! In all, they did 5 bedrooms, and we slept in each of them DUST FREE every night.
They finished in the time approximated, the price never changed from initial contract and my home is BEYOND beautiful. We now live in the home we envisioned when we purchased 4 years ago and it was certainly worth the wait.
A little background to the story: we'd hired Home Depot to install flooring in the upper level of our home 2 years ago. After no less than 6 return visits for corrections, we'd all but given up. Beau insisted upon the removal and replacement of the door casing! used to separate tile to wood transition areas and the quarter-rounds used to hide uneven cuts FOR FREE!!! The job Home Depot did was THAT BAD!
Dare i say that i actually missed the crew the first week after completion. They are a great family company using quality materials and seasoned professionals. Most have been with Royal Oak for 10-20 years. They'll certainly be our first call in our next home.

My condo unit got flooded recently ruining my existing hardwood floor. So I needed to take the old ones out and install new ones.
I called Royal Oak Hardwood Floor for an estimate after reading so many wonderful Angie's list reviews. What I found was their pricing is VERY competitive, more so with the Angie's list member coupon! More importantly they really care about their customers!
I had a very tight schedule as I have a tenant moving in a week (Saturday) and my hardwood floor requires a lot of work, due to the broken, uneven concrete left behind after the mitigation guys took out my old floor with strong adhesives and sound proofing materials.
I only have literally a little over a week to finish the work plus final clean-up. The self leveling concrete would take at least a day or two to dry and it's impossible to get the floor installation done on time if they start working on the concrete Monday.
I gave them a very short notice due to overwhelming condo mitigation work and Royal Oak was on another project with other client that won't complete until Saturday. Guess what they did for me! They came on Sunday to do the concrete!
I have never heard of any contractor willing to work on Sunday or even Saturday, not to mention without charging any weekend service fee! They came on Sunday to make it work out for me!
Story doesn't end here. My HOA's soundproofing requirement is not straightforward at all. Instead of telling unit owner what sound proofing material to use, they only provide sound rating unit owners need to comply with. So Beau, Royal Oak Owner, and Laurie, his secretary, made multiple phone calls to their sales person to check the specifications of different sound proofing materials for me. And when we finally decided to use rubber, which is particularly hard to install, they actually worked EXTRA hours everyday to get the work complete early to allow me time to clean my unit before my tenant moves in! Also, Beau caught that there was an area where new molding was needed but I didn't inform him. He quickly changed his molding order to special order another one that would match identically to my existing ones.
I don't know how much hassle I have caused them to get my new hardwood floor installed. But whenever I talked with Beau on the phone, he always said "Not a problem!" in a very cheerful tone, making me feel like he is really happy to do all this for me to make me happy. Last and probably people care most about, the hardwood floor is beautiful! It is very high quality product and the wood grains and colors look ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! Really thanks to Louis and James' top notch workmanship putting the rubber, wood floor and moldings together! The floor also feels so great on the feet!
I really can't say enough thanks to Beau and the team he put together, for the beautiful work they have done, the extra miles they went and the excellent experience! Really thank you so much, Beau and team!

Beau came to give us an estimate. We already had hardwood floors in some parts of the house and wanted to add hardwood to other areas that had carpet. In spite of the fact that the existing hardwood flooring was already 8 years old, Beau and Laurie managed to find the exact match. During the project, the carpet was removed and the subfloor was secured with rows of screws to prevent creaking. The crew worked efficiently and tirelessly to make sure that any areas squeaking were tightened. The removal of the carpet meant that the new floors had to tie into the old floors. The installers were masters at lacing in the old wood with the new wood to the point that we (the owners) had a hard time identifying where the one stopped and the other started. Beau's crew were professional, friendly, meticulous and cleaned up thoroughly after every work day. They even replaced some boards that were not part of the new flooring sections and that had been dented by furniture. We recommend them highly and we'll definitely use them again in the future.

After a few estimates from other vendors we were losing hope. After Beau came to give us an estimate we knew he was worth the wait. Very professional, knowledgeable and honest. Royal oak in located in Socal, but Shawn works the Bay area. Shwan is very professional and does quality work in a timely fashion. There are well known sellers and installers of hardwood flooring in the area. Shawn's price was better and the quality of his work was equivalent. A lot of my remodel was done by a contractor. The floors I did the general contracting for, and I was glad I did because the workmanship was far superior to what I would have gotten if I let my contractor handle it.

Beau (the owner of the company) came out, looked at the job, made suggestions (which we accepted) and prepared a detailed estimate. He was on time and clearly knew what he was talking about. We agreed to proceed with the job.
The crew appeared on the agreed date at the appointed time. They carefully covered all of the furniture and two entrances to the living and dining rooms with plastic to protect from dust from the tile removal. We had very little dust in the other parts of the house. The work took five days. Each day the crew was on time and worked diligently through the day. At the end of each work day, the crew left with everything put away and cleaned up. All trash was removed daily.
The quality of the work was excellent. The crew are true craftsmen who know their job. It was a pleasure to have them working on our home. We have been really impressed with the change the installation of the new flooring has made in our home.
We would recommend Beau and his people to anyone who is looking to have a quality flooring installation.
