One toilet sounded funny when flushed so I looked in the other bathroom and the toilet was up to the top and there was some standing water in the tub. From past problems I knew this was either a blockage under the house in the drain pipe coming from the two bathrooms or the septic tank was full. A third possibility was roots clogging the main line. Randy and I spoke about roots previously and hoped we could avoid dealing with the roots.
Some time ago Randy had figured out the drain pipe from the new bathroom went into a reduced diameter pipe from the old bathroom. All this pipe was in the crawl space under the house. He installed a new clean out that had access outside the house so no one would need to crawl any longer.
As soon as my husband heard the "funny noise" while he was dressing for work around 7am he told me to call Randy. I left a voice mail for Randy and he called back about 15 minutes later and said he would stop by on his way to his first job.
He didn't find a problem in the clean out. His helper opened the lid to the tank closest to the house (it's actually a seepage pit system, with a leech field) and it was rather full. They pumped it then had me run water in the tub for a few minutes to make sure I didn't see it back up and they could see it flowing into the tank.
Cleaned up with water from our hose and they were finished in about an hour. Wrote him a check and he said call him if that didn't fix it.
It's a filthy job so if you are looking for a sparkling truck and white uniforms, you won't be comfortable with Randy. He also doesn't take credit cards. But if you are looking for someone who has worked this neighborhood for nearly 40 years and probably knows your system better than you do (unless you are the original home owner), you won't find anyone more responsive and a better value than Randy and Pelland Pumping.
