After having a difficult time getting my former mechanic to diagnose a transmission problem in my 1996 Volvo, which I had bought only six months ago from a mechanic that worked for my former mechanic, I decided to take my car to someone who specialized in Volvos.   It turned out that the transmission was failing because of a radiator leak.  My former mechanic just kept  throwing other fixes (transmission computer, another used transmission - actually 2) at me, and the same problem kept reoccurring. Gary was able to diagnose the real problem and now my Volvo runs so smooth...wow, that's what the transmission is supposed to feel like?  I asked him to tell me the truth, is this car worth fixing or is there other stuff that my previous mechanic didn't tell me about.  He took his time and went through the car (I was there about a hour on my first visit while he test drove and went over the car), and told me it was in very good shape.  My other mechanic told me to get rid of it.  Gary did a terrific job and I will be bringing my Volvo back for future servicing and repair.

We moved to Sherman Oaks in 2000 and I somehow stumbled upon Tony at Classic Car of Sweden by accident.  He gave me a quote for replacing the fuel sensor on my Volvo and then I went and called several other mechanics in the area.  He was by far the cheapest.  He has, since then, serviced all our cars (Volvos, Isuzus, Hyundais, Hondas, you name it) and, apart from doing excellent work, has always been honest, prompt and fairly priced.  I can't say enough to recommend him.

My mechanic is great?AGAIN!
Today Tony not only fixed a rumbling noise in my car, that has annoyed me for over two years, but then he didn?t charge me for it!  And this was the second time he did not charge me for a fix.  I guess that?s because today?s fix was simple.  He just
bent back some bar that got bent when I rode over ?something.?  (The other freebee was also a simple fix.)
I?ve been using him for nine years, ever since the warranty on my Volvo expired.  The fact that he?s 13 miles away, and not conveniently in my neighborhood, is a further testament to how much I value his services.
It?s funny how someone enhances your life without you noticing.  Like when he recommended I switch to a Capital One credit card, to avoid restrictions on my frequent flyer tickets.  Now, I?m getting double miles on those same credit card expenses, without restrictions!   Thanks again to Tony.
But today I noticed.  So I?m writing this review and posting it to Angie?s List and to Yelp.com.  He sounds too good to be true, but he?s never steered me wrong and he keeps my car running great!
Oh, and he works on all cars?not just Volvo?s!  And his prices are very reasonable.
I recommend him without reservation and I TRUST HIM!

He changed 2 belts in the engine and replaced the tires as well. He balanced the tires.  He did a safety check and changed the oil as well.  He has taken care of our 4 Volvo's over the years. I've been taking cars to him for about 10 years.

The provider was very friendly and trustworthy. He was honest with what needed to be done asap and what could wait a while. His estimates of both time and cost were reasonable and accurate. I would highly recommend Classic Car of Sweden to anyone with a car (Swedish or not).

Tony was recommended by a Volvo reseller about a year ago. The first visit was to prepare my daughter's 1999 C70 Volvo for smog testing...Tony & crew checked and tweaked all, and the car passed smog test with flying colors. The second visit truly "saved" my daughter's Volvo...the car had the typical Volvo "leaky" cooling system; heater core, radiator and perhaps water pump...we had been adding about a pint of water every few days, but one morning the car over-heated badly. We slowly drove over to a highly rated Volvo shop in the West Valley, and they quoted $3000-4000 to repair heater, radiator, blown head gasket, etc., and, "by the way, did we want to sell the car 'as-is' to one of the guys in their shop?" I asked about possibly using a 'stop leak' and 'head gasket repair' additive, and they just said they had, "heard of these", but didn't offer to try. I called Tony the next day and he said he would, "give it a try...nothing to lose". Tony used BAR's Head Gasket Repair" additive according to instructions, and the Volvo has been running perfectly for several weeks now, even during the 100 degree plus weather, with air conditioner full on, and literally not losing a drop of water!!! Time will tell how long this "fix" will work...the Customer Service Technician at the BAR's factory told me over the phone that the procedure is good for anywhere between 2,000 to 40,000 miles...every circumstance is different. Tony charged us $122 for everything, including the BAR's additive and several hours of labor. We have three Volvo's, and all will be going to Tony's 'Classic Car of Sweden' from now on....THANKS!!! Tony & Crew...!!! Also, my recommendation: if you have a Volvo with radiator, heater or other cooling system leaks, just have Tony do the BAR's additive treatment first for about $150 or less...I know, from past experience with Volvo's, that replacing heater or radiator cores costs $600-800...that's a lot of $$$$ these days for most of us.

TONY DOES ALL OUR WORK ON OUR VOLVO. HE SPECIALIZES IN FOREIGN CARS. HE'S FAST AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ALTHOUGH HIS SHOP IS SMALL AND NOT SET UP TO IMPRESS CUSTOMERS, HIS ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS WHEN IT COMES TO FOREIGN CARS MAKES UP FOR THE NOT SO PLUSH SETTING.
