Slater Construction was top-notch.  Slater Cahill, owner of the company, expertly coordinated every facet of the project for us, including identifying potential architects and solving problems with and among the countless local agencies that have a role to play in Tahoe construction.  He inherited a vacant lot with many special requirements to prepare it for building, and in collaboration with the architect and his sub, worked through the regulatory, design, and topographical issues efficiently.  The quality of construction was very high; the integrity of the contractor was above reproach.  He was on the job site every single day and had first-rate subs and a terrific crew working for/with him.  He was highly organized and deeply knowledgeable about materials, construction methods and cost efficiencies (and non-efficiencies), and products.  He worked closely with the architect to find cost savings and respected our budget constraints throughout the project. He kept us fully apprised of his progress and issues as they appeared.   At the beginning of the project, he committed to a date for project completion, and he met that commitment.  Now, having occupied the house for one year, we are better able to fully appreciate his good judgment and attention to detail in so many aspects of the construction.

After having remodeled our homes many times in the past and now having built two houses,  we recognize excellence in builders.  Slater is the best builder we have ever worked with.  He is highly respected by his crew and his professional community.  And besides his professional expertise, he is a very decent, fair-minded person.  We are delighted with his work, and he has our highest recommendation.
