The overall experience is a positive one.  Yong the general contractor is dependable and a man of his word.  His prices are reasonable and the initial estimate that he gave broke down each item of work to be done for each room so you know how much he is charging for painting,drywall, pluming, tiling, etc.  The quote he gave  is labor and building supplies only (and does not include tiles, cabinets, fixtures.) and he stood by his quote.  But like any remodel, there are the unexpected like rotting subfloor plus additional things that we needed/wanted done but the additional cost was reasonable and fell in line with his initial quote.   The quality of his crews work is fair to good and all the work done was permitted.  The reason for fair is because we had to call Yong back to fix a couple of things but he gladly obliged and came back within a reasonable time.
The only negative thing I guess is the amount of time it took to finish the remodel.  Yong does have multiple jobs going on at once so keep that in mind.  Also Yong is not and does not have a designer/planner, meaning he can give suggestions but is not going to present you with 3-D drawings of how the remodel will look or go with you to pick out the cabinets, tiles, fixtures although he will help you pick them up .

They were just absolutely excellent.  They completed the work and I am very happy with them.  I would rate them very highly.  I had supplied some of the material for the remodeling work, which was not sufficient so they picked up the material for me and they didn't charge me for that.  Their price was very cheap.  They were very punctual.  I have something else that I am thinking of doing shortly and I would absolutely call them back for that.

Overall things went very well. The work looks beautiful.  Here are a few things he did that make he stands above a lot of contractors out there.

v     I had six contractors bid on the job.  Yong?s quote was the second lowest.  $2K above the lowest quote, but 46% lower than the highest quote.  His quote was very detail and transparent.  No hidden agendas.

v     I asked for reference.  Most bidders gave me 4-5 references.  Young gave me a list of 25 customers.  I called six of them.  All feedbacks were very positive.

v     My project ran into the raining season.  One night, his workers forgot to cover up the opened roof.  I called him 8:00PM.  By 9:15PM, his sent me a message telling me he had it covered.

v     It was a big project.  Very few mistakes were made.  When mistakes were made, Yong had his guys correct the mistakes until I am satisfied.  A window was installed out of symmetry a little bit.  His team came back and spent a whole day to made it perfect.

v     My wife and I were working full time and the job site was 50 miles away from where we lived.  Yong was on the job site and supervising the project all the time.  When questions or issues came up, he would call me to discuss and resolve the issues.  All my friends and coworkers was surprised I could handle the project without taking much time off from my regular work. 

v     Occasional add-ons which I desired as construction progressed were dealt with between Yong and me at a very honest, fair, and realistic cost.

I highly recommend YB Construction. The carpentry was top notch. On a big job, it's really difficult to predict what additions and changes will be needed to the original plans (and the original cost estimate). Yong has good business integrity in that his charges for this additional work was fair (along the lines of his original estimate). He didn't try to gouge me. Yong has a good temperment -- there was never an argument or a tense situation. On the downside, I felt like I needed to spend extra time watching over some of his subcontractors. They were good about fixing problems that I found, but first I needed to point out the problems. But for the most part, things worked out fine. We love living in our remodeled house. It is much more comfortable than our "old" house. I would hire YB again.

See above. If the homeowner is honest, fair, and realistic in his business dealings with no hidden agendas or emotional baggage, I would think his experience with YB Construction should be similar to what my wife and me experienced.

The project lasted a long time. They were really good overall and were very competitively priced.

Showed up on time. Did great work. Got it done on time. Workers were pleasant and professional. Work done was excellent. Everything just went exactly as it should have.

These people are exceptional. They are very efficient--working individually or in two, three, or more teams, depending on the work to be done at an individual time. No one stands around waiting for instructions, and Yong works with the others, as needed. All workers are well-versed, and Yong is a master-solutions type. They show up on schedule; everyone can perform multiple tasks. A wonderful plus: There is no noise from music blasting or talk radio; no contending with noise pollution. Moreover, working with one another, they are all very friendly and considerate, and equally so with the homeowner. They carefully protect floors and furniture, and clean up inside and outside as they complete their work. The original estimate was right on in spite of the extra work and the supplies needed as past construction errors surfaced. Yong was very competitive with other construction companies. The cost breakdown provided with the prompt estimate made it possible to compare the separate activities with other individual contractors. The Angie's List Report on YB Construction was so favorable that I was suspicious of its being written by a relative. P.S. When Yong answers the phone, he just says "hello"; I thought I had called the wrong number. There was no pretention or hyperbole, just capable people worthy of trust.

They were absolutely fabulous. They really were fabulous contractors. Fabulous to work with. They are coming back after Christmas to do some more work.

I've used Yong before and as usual he was fantastic. He's easy to reach, dependable, does great work at reasonable a cost, and works very fast. He always makes deadlines, even if he works late or early in the morning. Very trustworthy. Truly a wonderful contractor to have working for you in your home or business.

I used many people to help with repair/remodel of a house I was selling. All did great work, but Yong outclassed the rest. His work was extremely fast, excellent and reasonably priced. At first I asked for estimates. He was so honest and fair, I just told him to go ahead with work and I trusted him to give a very fair price. He always did. I could count on Yong to always answer his phone and calm my nerves about getting the work performed quickly - even difficult tasks. There was some work that was complicated and no one else could figure out how to do it. Yong went the extra mile, researched it and came up with creative ideas to solve the problem. He spent extra time on some difficult projects, often not charging for the added time. I began to feel like he was so supportive and reliable, he was almost like my guardian angel during this stressful time of remodeling/repair. His company, Y B Construction mainly does large remodeling jobs, but his help with miscellaneous work was great!
