PENINSULA FENCE

My first meeting, 8/2/13, with John (owner) was fine.  He made some suggestions to make the fence more durable, his price was in the "range"  so I called him to have the work done and left a message on his voicemail.  No response the next day, so called his cellphone. He said he was on a job but could do the fence 8/16 and would call me by 8/14.  I made all the arrangements with my neighbor (with small children) and with the actual homeowner of the rental property. No call by 8/14 and on 8/17, when the fence was to be built, he was a no-show so I called his cellphone at 11am.  He tells me he will build the fence after his vacation! I could not believe it. After I insisted he stick to his promised time line, he was at my house in about an hour. He apologized for forgetting to call and basically forgetting that he had made this commitment.  To his credit, he worked until 7 pm and came back the next morning at 7:30am to complete the fence. 
As for the quality of the fence--it is the only part of this experience that deserves an A. If you decide to go with this contractor, you have to contact him. Don't rely on him to return calls or even remember to show up.

John and his crew did a great job on our fence.  Recommend them highly.

The owner himself came to my house to give me the estimate. He gave took accurate measurements, and carefully calculated the price. He explained the charges for all materials and labor. This was in contrast to a previous contractor, who gave me a high estimate to see if I was dumb enough to bite. He would then ask me how much I would pay. I knew he was playing games, so I said I would look elsewhere. That's when I called Peninsula and things got done right, on schedule, as planned, at the right price, with outstanding professionalism.

He came on time, completed the work on time, was pleasant & helpful.
