For $125 he would install the dog door with all hardware and seal the exterior perimeter with paint-able caulking. For
$150 (including all materials and labor), he would hardwire the door
into the nearest electrical outlet and move 1 electrical wire, if
necessary. For $150, he would create a small concrete step to cover the distance of my raised foundation.
For $60, he would patch the stucco or if I preferred, he would cover the stucco with something else for nothing
I requested it all to be done for a total of $485.
We scheduled him to start work that Saturday morning (4 days in advance) at 9:00 a.m. Vache called a few minutes before arriving to be sure that I was home and knew he was almost there and arrived promptly at 9. After I showed him to the room and outside area, he got right to work. I watched him work part of the time and asked a few questions, which he was happy to answer fully. After the work was finished, he cleaned up the area outside with a shop-vac and inside with a shop-vac and broom and dust pan, which I truly appreciate. He was here until about 5:00 p.m. and completed all work to my satisfaction. He did not try to up-charge any service or sell me anything I did not need.
I was impressed with his responsiveness, pricing, quality of work, and overall professionalism. I have other work around my house and fully intend to have him back.
That gave me confidence to employ him, and the opportunity came when I went on a two week vacation. While I was gone, he and his men did the whole job: carefully moving all the furniture, including the fridge (keeping it running so freezer stuff could stay...). He picked up the wood I bought, which saved me a delivery fee. Installation was perfect. Paint job was gorgeous. Everything was put back in perfect order. All I had to do was personal choice stuff like re hanging pictures. And when I requested one little touch up, it was done quickly and without complaint.
Before the job I did price comparisons with lumber liquidators and one other painting contractor. Marva was equivalent or less in every area. Plus, I trusted him to deal responsibly with any newly-discovered water damage when the old floor was ripped up. (Fortunately, there was none).
Marva does both bigger and smaller job. Vache's wife is an architect, and he has a good design sense. I will definitely use him for future projects.
