Beware!!! My husband set up a service appt to repair a belt on our gsrage door opener and let them know the brand we have. He wanted to be sure the technician could fix it as we were quoted $149. for the consult, for which they took a credit card in advance. He asked that the technician call him before coming out to confirm the ability to remedy the problem and that he has the necessary part. That didn't happen. Service tech was three hours late. Technician arrived and told him they don't fix that brand but he had a Liftmaster on the truck he could install for $1,000! Bait & switch - we felt robbed! We can buy a Liftmaster at Costco for $200 & had quotes for installation for $300-400. Far cry from $1K!!! I called the company to no resolve. I would never use this company and will file a chargeback with our credit card company ASAP! Buyer beware! Scammy for sure!

On a Saturday morning my garage door would not close. I found Empire on Angie's List and called them. Over the phone, Dave helped me get the door closed and assured me my issue happens occasionally but there was no need for a service call. I scheduled a preventive maintenance call for 2 wks later. Dave was right on time, performed lubrication service and made minor adjustments plus showed me how to perform minor maintenance myself in-between PM's. I highly recommend this honest, knowledgeable and customer-focused company. What a relief to find a reliable and honest contractor who does what they say and isn't just looking to just make a buck. Thanks Dave.

Jody did an amazing job. After my initial call, he came out within 2 days to give me an estimate. Instead of trying to upsell me, he actually did the opposite, and convinced me I didn't need a new garage door, but just a new opener (the old one was from 1991). I really appreciated his honesty. He returned two days later and very efficiently installed the new opener. I had a choice of two models ($395 or $495), and chose the one that had more features. I also asked him to replace the rubber seal on the bottom of the door ($45). Jody also oiled the hinges in my garage door which made it quieter. He encouraged me to call anytime if I had questions. I always appreciate tradepeople who are very professional and who can help make my life easier, and Jody & Empire Garage Doors really did! Thank you!

Jody took away our old garage door and installed a new one.

My elderly mother's garage door was making bad noises when it opened and closed. I live many hundreds of miles away and could not look at it for my Mom.  A neighbor came over and looked at the door, lubricated the relevant moving parts but this did not solve the issue.  He saw some bracing on the door that was loose/broken and said we needed to get a repair service to look at it.  We called two providers to give estimates.
The first Garage Door business we called for an estimate (one that advertises in the paper a lot) told us that the garage door was broken beyond repair, that it was too old and no parts were available anymore, and our only choice was replacement, written estimate was $999.
The second Garage Door business we called was Empire Garage Door Service (we got their contact info off of Angies List).  We called late in the afternoon, and Jody from Empire came out the next day.  He looked over the door and said that there was no need for replacement, it was an easy repair and rather than reschedule, he would do it right there, the on-the-spot estimate was $85.
Needless to say, we approved the $85 estimate and told Jody to have at it.  He fixed the issue, and rebraced several other spots that he said he wanted to strengthen as well, just to make sure we did not have future problems.  
When he gave my mom the bill, he had knocked $10 off for the "senior discount" and the final bill was $75.  He told mom "he knew she did not qualify for the senior discount", but he was going to apply it anyway (my mom is in her 80s, I think she liked that as much as the fixed door).  :)
Old world service, honesty, quality work, and best interests of the customer at heart.  In my opinion you cannot go wrong with Jody/Empire.  

They did a wonderful job. They had to make an extra trip and did not charge me extra for that. They even gave me a senior discount although I did not ask for it. The price came from 135.00 originally quoted over the phone down to 115.00 instead. They were professional and I would highly recommend them.

Last year, my garage door needed repairs. I called the company that had installed it, and had a terrible experience. Checking Angie's List, I found Empire Garage Door Service and contacted them. It went so well that when one of the springs broke several days ago, I called Empire again. As before, they came out promptly and made the repair in only a matter of minutes. The company is efficient, pleasant and easy to deal with, and I would highly recommend Empire.

Our garage door literally fell apart over Presidents Day weekend. We
had a referral from a neighbor to use a big company but found Empire
Garage Door Service. They were local and had great reviews so we called right
away. Steve came out on the Monday that was a holiday for a service call and scheduled an
appt with Jody for the following Mon. to replace the entire door. Jody
showed up on time, was really friendly and completely professional.
Their prices were better than the big company that advertises in
magazines and on tv. I would absolutely use them again and recommend
them to my friends and neighbors.

Great service and they gave me a very good price. I called around and others had doors $900+. Jody came on time and was in and out in 2hrs. He cleaned up before he was finished and did a great job.

They came on time. Assessed the situation and gave a fair price to fix the existing equipment unlike some other company's that push you to buy brand new equipment.

I've used Empire before so when my garage door came of it's track I called Steve. He showed up right on time and went to work. He had it fixed and working like new in no time. I'm glad for the opportunity to review Empire Garage Door Service again. In my previous review I gave them a B for price. I don't know why as the price and service was excellent! So much so that today, two years later, he was the first person I thought to call. Call them, you won't be disappointed.

My neighbor, an angie's list member, highly referred them to me. They found them on angie's list and were very happy with their service. Jerry came and gave me a fair estimate and completed the job. I didn't feel that they were very honest with what the problem was and weren't trying to overcharge me.

We've used another company for the past several years to install and maintain our section garage door and electronic garage door opener. But since last year, we've had to have them come out a number of times for service, but the problems have not been resolved. Our garage door practically groaned when it closed, ending with a CLUNK, so we had this other company service it. When they were done, it didn't close properly; there was a 3and quot; gap at the bottom. We called them out again, and it was and quot;fixedand quot;, but with that CLUNK again.
I was DONE with this company, so I turned to Angie's List. I'm a first-time user, and after scanning for local providers, I read about Empire Garage Door Service, which sounded very good. And they are! Steve came over shortly before our 10 a.m. appointment, quickly diagnosed and repaired the problems, and gave me some great suggestions to keep the equipment in good working order. He was fast, efficient, professional and totally pleasant to work with.
I'd use this company again and recommend them highly.

Jamie arrived on time for our scheduled appointment, gave me a very competitive price for a brand new steel garage door. He said that the door we wanted would take two to three weeks to get. A couple of days later, he said he called around and found the door we wanted at another manufacturer and could install it the next day. He arrived at the installation appointment on time, and did a great job installing the door. I would highly recommend this company for garage door installation.

My garage door opener stopped functioning, so I made calls to a few service providers. One was the original installer and manufacturer of my wood garage door, but they told me they no longer service my area which is quite a distance from their headquarters. They tried to trouble shoot over the phone, but to no avail. One of the 2 other places I left messages with never called back, but the other did. They gave a rough estimate on the phone based on the unit I have and the symptoms I described, and said they could be here in the morning.
This call was from Jody at Empire, and he showed up right on time and revised his diagnosis to a less expensive course of action than he had originally proposed (a broken sprocket was the culprit rather than a worn gear set). He fixed that, did overall maintenance (lubrication, tightening of the joints on the wood, fixing the gasket) in a very swift manner, all while making periodic pleasant conversation when I wandered in and out of the area.
Empire will now be my go-to garage door service provider. I will have them do all maintenance on my garage door and opener from now on, and heartily recommend them to anyone who is in need of this type of service.

I was able to reach Jody by phone and he gave me an estimate over the phone. He then came by 2 days before the install and realized that a lighter spring could be used which cut the price by $50.00. He was able to schedule the installation 2 business days after my first call. He showed up on time and was able to complete the installation in about 2 hours. The new opener works great. Nice clean installation. Their bid was $400 less than some other bids from other Angies-List-A-rated installers.

At first Steve and Jody were really responsive. I called, we set up an estimate date... but then they just disappeared after coming out and checking two jobs. I followed up via email and a phone call and never heard back. I had to finish the job with someone else.

The garage door was literally not opening because of the censor, so I called them and the guy came out that very day and fixed it, and two days later something else with the motor started grinding up because of some plastic, and he came out again and opened it up, fixed that and also gave me a $80 discount for that. I rate him highly and will use him again in the future if needed.

They were very honest and fair, didn't try to jack up extra costs, and the quote was all-inclusive of installation, door removal, construction and nylon rollers. Jody cleaned up the job site and was very friendly. I highly recommend this company.
