The quality was excellent in every way. I have never had any complaints, and the guy who runs it was very careful about that, but they were very slow, it was supposed to take 4-5 months, and took a year. We are very happy with the work, but it was excruciating, because you have to live with this, and you never really never knew if they would show up, and if they had another job. It takes longer with a small contractor. The price wasn't cheap, but it was what you would expect. I would have some hesitation using him because of some of the delays. When we signed up with him, he said that he didn't have any other work and so it would take 4-5 months, and he immediately got a bigger job, and so he wouldn't show up at times.

DAG (Daniel) was not our first choice originally, but he was our favorite out of the 3 because he sounded very honest, professional and knowledgeable. The reason he wasn't our first choice was because the finish date he quoted us was the longest among the 3. So we decided to choose the one with the earliest finish date with low cost. However, after we met with our first choice, we found out the first choice was very pushy, non flexible and most important, he may need longer time to finish the job than he originally quoted us. So if it will take longer to remodel than we thought, we decided to go with DAG, our favorite guy among all 3. Once we decided to go with DAG, Dan started with the work. The demo started in Mid/Apr-2011 and the estimated finish date was around Mid-End/July-2011. During the time, there were changes here and there plus I added more work (for eg., replace all interior doors and entrance door), we moved in around Mid/Oct. During the demo, my husband and I started to decide what kind of style we wanted for our bathrooms and kitchen. But because both of us had no experience on designing and remodeling, so we couldn't decide on the materials. Dan went to the vendor with us so he could see the tiles in person. I described what kind of feeling I wanted and somehow, he was able to understand what I meant. Our guest bathroom was small so our shower cannot be too big. I do not like any continuous tiles smaller than 2and rdquo;x2and rdquo; so the design for the shower floor was a problem for me. Dan suggested a very good idea which is to have a border of 2and rdquo;x8and rdquo; tiles around the 2and rdquo;x2and rdquo; tiles so it won't look too mosaic like. Another thing is the vendor said it will take about 60 days for them to ship the 8and rdquo;x8and rdquo; tiles, they only have 8x16and rdquo; in stock, and Dan said he could have his tile guy to cut the 8and rdquo;x16and rdquo; into 8and rdquo;x8and rdquo;. I checked and the edge looked exactly like the original cuts (at no extra charge). As for the master bathroom, we wanted marble for the shower, floor and countertop, so Dan also met us at the marble slab place and gave us advise. As for the kitchen, Dan also referred us to another tile store and that place is absolutely wonderful. They have free designing service so Dan didn't go with us. Both bathrooms and kitchen came out more beautiful than I would have imagined. A lot of people tend to spend a lot of money on brand names and good quality materials but use cheap contractors to save money, but I think that is totally incorrect because good material needs good people (people who know what they are doing) to put them together. One thing I forgot to mention is his carpentry guy and ndash; Antonio, he did most of the bathroom vanity and kitchen cabinets for us. I had certain styles for my vanity and closet so I sketched out what I wanted and amazingly, everything look exactly the same as my drawings. And Gabriel, he's like the advisor (a shy guy), he is good at everything and he's very responsible. Both Antonio's and Gabriel's work were very professional. As for our molding, half of them had a old style look and half had a modern look, so I had Dan to take out all base and crown molding so the house can look unified. In the beginning, they had misunderstood what I wanted but they immediately took it down right after they saw my face. Dan quickly grabbed the molding book from his car and had me pointed out what I want. With lots of patience and listening, they were able to make the style I wanted. I felt bad in the beginning but became comfortable because they never push me to make any decision right away so they can finish their job. Dan even told me and ldquo;it's ok, we are suppose to do make the house to what you want.and rdquo; Dan taught them not to only do a job, but also act like an artist, paint and step back to take a look if it looks good. I can tell they really like what they are doing. For the new windows we ordered, it was raw with nothing on it. One day I came to the site and saw 4-5 men standing around the window, so I took a closer look, they were cutting small pieces of wood from the frame and rubbing the pieces away. I asked Dan what are they doing, he said they need to cut and clean the frame so when he prime/paint it, the frame will have a clean look. My husband and I were like and ldquo;WOWand rdquo;!! Seriously, with our knowledge, any contractor would have cut the corner and paint the frame/window without these extra steps and we would not have known or realized. We ordered 12 windows and each window have 6 panels in it. That's one of the reason why his time frame is longer. Even though if there was some delay, it was worth the wait. And lots of time, Dan will explain the procedure of their work, in the language I understand, not the language of contractor. For eg., he'll explain the procedure of hot mopping, how the doors are made from scratch, how Antonio will cut the vanity, the procedure of sanding the floor and putting new floor, the procedure of installing the tiles in the bathroom and kitchen, etcand hellip; So whatever they were doing, I know exactly what they are doing. I heard from families and friend that their contractor just do stuff without telling them how and why, and really don't know if they cut the corner. I am sure Dan didn't cut the corner on ours. And plus, he really gave us a lecture and ldquo;Restoration 101and rdquo;. I heard many bad stories from remodeling but I had a really good experience with Dan. I had fun and learned a lot from him. I'll say if you have time and if you have no experience and knowledge on remodeling at all, you can trust Dan. Dan is honest and flexible to changes. In case you made some bad decisions, Dan will actually let you know and pull you back to the right track. Lots of contractor will do whatever you tell them to do since to them, this is just a job, but to Dan, this is his art. He really treated my house like his own house. He really cared about his work. His mentality differs from other contractors. When our relatives and friends came to see our completed house, everyone of them were amazed by Dan's work. We are so glad that we chose him to be our contractor at the end. The only problem is that sometimes, Dan gets really busy, so it may take him longer to quote you. However, it is definitely worth the wait. Great Workmanship! Highly recommended.

I found DAG on Angie's List and knew for almost a year that I wanted to use them for my bathroom remodel. Dan is a really good guy. He is honest and all the work that went into the bathroom is complete quality. I have gorgeous tile and beautiful cabinets and a granite countertop that really are fantastic. That said, my bathroom remodel took 12 weeks...Way too long in my opinion. By comparison, my kitchen remodel took 3.5 weeks. Yes, there was a lot of custom work, but there was a lot of time lost. It seems like DAG has a lot of jobs and only a handful of specialists (shower pan, granite, cabinets) so there were days lost waiting for availability. Since we are a working family of 4, not having a bathroom was a real drag but nothing I could do or say could speed it up. I got frustrated because I couldn't get a commitment on timeline...or even a working schedule. We did get everything we asked for in the bathroom, the price was fair and it looks great.

And I have to say, the work is real quality. I would recommend DAG if you have the time to wait.

DAG received a substantial amount of work from me, my family and friends. However, I found him to be less competitive at the end of our working relationship when I stopped having him bid my work. I am less impressed with DAG's quality as I have other contractor's work to compare his to. I resented his sarcasm he wrote to me in an email when I advised him I would be sending my bathroom remodel out to bid to other contractors. My husband and I feel he had grown to take our work for granted.

Dan's bid was the middle of three. We went with him because of a positive prior experience and because the low bidder's time estimate of 2-3 days with the same size crew as Dan's seemed too fast for a good job. Dan's crew took 7. They arrived on time and cleaned up well each day. The tile looks great, especially the work where the regular tiles, verticals and bullnose come together on the steps. There's an elegance to the geometry created by the various pieces and the grout lines. As on the prior job, Dan helped us out with advise on unrelated matters. He was knowledgeable and reliable.

I had an original 1930's art deco shower that was falling apart, with holes in the wall, missing tile and a leaking/raining shower pan. It was a terrible mess and I was beginning to worry about falling through the floor. I love the art deco look of my bathroom and wanted a new shower that looked just like the old one - when it was new. Dan and his team completely rebuilt my shower. They removed the original shower, replaced the rotten wood work and rebuilt the shower from scratch. The water damage was more extensive than expected, so they fixed that too, with a very reasonable increase to the original estimate. The work included carpentry, hot mop for the shower pan, plastering and tile work. The tile work came out very well, in the exact same pattern as the original tile. It looks so good that I will probably switch to a clear glass door so that the shower can be seen better. Throughout the job, Dan and his team were very punctual (they were there at 7AM on the dot, everyday). They cleaned up their work each day. I felt comfortable leaving them alone at my house while I was at work. They were also very patient in regards to our overly friendly dog. It was really nice to come home each day to a clean work site with clear evidence of progress being made. Of course it is even nicer now to have a finished and beautiful shower. I am very satisfied with the work that Dan and his team did and I plan to call on DAG construction again for other projects.

The service was great, they were on time and ready with all materials needed. So speedy and accurate they actually finished in one day. Polite with my kids and family. He explained every step before hand and was the only contractor to give a written quote. Awesome job!

They did a great job. It was a several day process and they tested it for a day to make sure it didn't leak, then restored the door. They were very thorough and punctual, I'd highly recommend them. The project leader was professional and emailed very formal proposals and receipts for checks. He also communicated what day and time he would be there. The workers were cordial and did great work. We found them on Angie's List and the price was comparable to other bids.

It's a large bathroom, Dan's bid was best. The quality of work is excellent. Dan's suggestion to use tumbled travertine on the floor and honed for the verticals and tub deck worked out great. He was helpful at every turn -- when Synder-Diamond couldn't deliver the 400-lb tub, he and I got it in his truck. The job was done on time, the clean-up was thorough. The home is newly-purchased and Dan answered many questions about other rooms and systems and did several small side jobs for me. I found him trustworthy in all our dealings.

Excellent. Dan, the owner, had suggesttions on how the project could be done and also gave us ideas that would reduce the cost of the project. They arrived on time, cleaned up the work area each day before they left. They were a pleasure to work with and very professional. I like that Dan has insureance and liscensed. We had delt with other tile people and they were not insured nor liscensed. Dan and his crew were a pleasure to work with and the work was done on time and surpassed our expectations. We will use him again.

To begin with there was mold in the plaster that had to be removed. Once the bathroom was completely gutted there were some of the wood studs had dry rot and needed to be replaced. I wanted to make sure that the sub floor was in good shape so that I wouldn't have problems later with the beautiful tile that I had chosen. Daniel has a very good eye for design and color and worked with my drawings to achieve my look and style. The cabinets were custom made to fit the bathroom and leave plenty of room. While the bathroom was in the rough stages he replaced the old galvanized drain pipes and installed new plastic so the drains wouldn't back up anymore in that bathroom. (Great idea) I have an older home so the valves and other pipes were replaced to copper. I had an old wall heater that had been taken out and an electrical outlet put in. But the location of that was dangerous and he moved the outlet and added a exhaust fan and another switch. I would always recommend to hire a General contractor because of their knowledge of all the trades needed to complete a job and if the job runs into problems they can handle it without me having to call in other sub contractors myself. He also made sure everything was up to code and I have permits for the job. The cost was very reasonable considering the house is old and the bathroom was in such bad shape even underneath what I could not see. Daniel was very helpful and worked with me on my budget and timing. His workers were very clean and always picked up their mess at the end of each day.

Dan (Dan Aguilera, contractor) told us before he began there might be more work once he started taking the balcony apart. Sure enough, he showed us where improper installation years ago had caused the balcony's supporintg posts to rot away because opf water damage. He showed that the plywood surface of the balcony was so weak, you could stomp your foot through it. After getting our approval Dan repaired everythng that needed repairing, but did not do any unneccesary work. His crew was terrific. They came on time, put in a full day's work, were courteous and respectful and cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. We didn't start out wanting to spend $12,000 (who does?) but considering the shape the old balcony was in, I'm glad we got it done. I feel we got value for out money.

Contra tor is friendly yet professional. He started by removing the old tile in the kitchen. The cabinets were in good shape so we had them stained to a darker finish. We also added a desk and another cabinet. Next the granite was installed. Sink was also installed at this time. Then the travertine backsplash and floor was done. We moved on to the bathrooms where new floor tile, granite countertops and cabinets were stained. Some delays happened with the ordering of the countertops because the manufacturer was backlogged. But while the wait our contractor moved on to installing new doors and moulding throughout the house and around windows. Never wasting time. We had a sliding door which we had removed and a single door was installed. We had a window that was converted to a door leading out to the patio were French doors were installed. What a difference it makes and what an improvement! Since its an older house we had new electrical outlets and data lines installed. Next was the wood floors. This is where it got tricky. We needed to empty out the living room and family room from all furniture. This is where the rental of portable storage boxes came in handy. It took about two weeks for the installation of the wood flooring for the entire house and the family played musical rooms. It helped that we had an extra bedroom. The contractor was very considerate and planned to have each bedroom painted and wood flooring installed and ready to move back in within 3 days. We did have a few delays that where not foreseen like the termites that where found in one of the bathrooms. We had dry rot and had to install a new base floor. Expected things where there like the dust, etc. The contractor tried to keep it to a minimum by cleaning on a daily basis. Estimates were on target but since we upgraded in some areas the final cost was higher. But overall we are very happy with the result of all we had done. Great craftsmanship and design ideas. It brought much character to the house inside and out. Fabulous and professional job well done. Will use again for future remodeling. Our neighbor liked the results that they hired him for their addition and remodeling project. We highly recommend DAG Renovations.
