It was awful. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
First day they arrived said the job was "too big" for a Saturday and had to return on Monday. Upon returning they were late, rude and not professional. They were using all sorts of plastic wrap to waste time, broke several items, and took over 8 hours to move. They were simply moving our things into a storage unit, and when at the storage unit they began to throw things everywhere. Items were not stacked, it was very poorly done. When I called about the broken items and the damage to my garage door, corporate did NOTHING. They said, if our guys do not admit to doing damage there is nothing we can do. EVEN with the photos I provided. This company is up to no good, and is not someone I will ever use again.

The day started out ok, however, the guy named Jeremy had a very bad attitude. I ultimately ended up receiving a discount for this service. At the end of the contract it states that you have time to look over everything to make sure there was no damage. When I asked Jeremy about this he vented about not liking his job and basically being upset with everything. He then just walked off in the middle of me trying to get clarification on what was going on. After I called the office to file a complaint, the manager called the next day, gave me a discount, and was very apologetic.  The movers were not dressed uniformly and did not look like they worked for a business.  It did not go well....

Arrived very late.  Ran out of room on their truck.  They did not put things back together.  The movers work very hard but they are not very well trained.  Not a good outfit if you are moving nice furniture.

In a nutshell - You get what you pay for! I had never used movers before and unfortunately did not do my proper research on this company. Because I had a very small job (in the grand scheme of moving houses), I decided to go with a company based on price.  I had never used movers before and had just made my first home purchase. I thought it would be "easier" to hire a company than to get friends together to help me. The lesson here is that friends care about you and your stuff - Starving Students does not.
Where do I start? The employees were rude. During the whole move, which I was present for, they kept using the "N" word. Over and over again, I had to hear this!! Yikes!! And, while I am white, I do not subscribe to this type of language and/or inferences.  It was COMPLETELY unprofessional and I was highly insulted.
Then, they  rushed me to sign the final paperwork. I trusted them to take care of my items. How silly of me. What I found was that several of my most expensive items were damaged.
First, my elliptical was broken. It cost me $300 to have someone come out and repair it.Second, they damaged both of my armoires, rendering them unusable and unsellable. I ended up donating them to charity. This probably cost me $500.
So, the cost of the move, instead of being $600 was more like $1500!
This company is complete unprofessional. While they were very proactive on the setting up of the account and the taking of my hard-earned money, no one even bothered to call me or check up with me after the move to guage my satisfaction. I guess they already know what type of customer experiences there are out there.
So, unless you want to donate all your (damaged) stuff to charity - don't trust this company.

They were late and unprofessional in their appearance and the way they were acting. I went through an extensive list in detail when I placed my order. They had forgotten everything; I had to give them the list again. They had staff in the team that continued to poorly handle my furniture. Things were dropped and scraped. They did not follow instructions about having mattresses covered. We got to the new location and some staff were just dropping things and scratching hardwood floors. I would never use them again.

The manager (Sean/Shawn?) called me every week or so prior to the move to make sure the move was on track.
Two men and a truck were a little late, but phoned in advance to say they were on their way.  Not a problem.  Brandon and Ryan worked hard all day, 8.5 hours with little idle time.  They made the extra effort to make a second trip when we couldn't get everything in the first load.
I was very happy with their work, and I gave them a cash tip at the end of the day.
The only negative thing I have to say is that I cannot read the copies of the carbon-less paperwork I received because the handwriting did not have enough pressure to transfer through all the copies, and my copies are illegible.

I had a bad experience with them. They were in a huge hurry and they ended up damaging some of my furniture. I am going to file a claim. I felt like they moved way too fast and did not wrap the furniture good enough. I ended up with some scratches and I don't know if I am going to get anything back from the claim I am going to file. Another problem was the final price was supposed to be $180 and it ended up being $217. The pieces of furniture were heavy items and I told them that I wanted them to be careful. They took the handles off the refrigerator and kept dropping them on the cement in front of the house; I finally asked them to give them to me and when I looked at them they have scratches on them. They were in a big hurry and were not friendly at all; it seemed like they were very unhappy in their jobs and stressed. The price was reasonable in comparison to other companies. I called and complained about what had happened and I asked them to look for a part of my furniture that was missing and they did not call me back. They were punctual but I will not use them again in the future.

Overall, this move cost nearly $7000 for what should have been a $1000 - $1200 move.  I had to hire a second moving crew since Starving Students only moved about 2/3 of my property before quitting at 9:00PM.  It cost only $1800 for me to move from Redding, CA to Elk Grove, CA a year and a half ago and that mover moved it all.  I had more furniture then and there was virtually no damage.  If Bob's Movers had been local, I certainly would have used them again, instead of these guys.  I thought that, since these guys have been around since 1973, they would be reliable - man, was I wrong!  Not once did the claims rep. attempt to empathize with me or take my comments seriously.  She immediately went into defense mode.  One of the stolen rings was my late father's and is therefore, irreplaceable.  I can only imagine that it found its way into some "Cash for Gold" envelope.  Not only was I violated but I was insulted as well.  As stated earlier, DO NOT LET THESE GUYS CLOSE TO YOUR PROPERTY.  At one point during the move, two of the guys and I left to take a truckload of property to the storage facility.  I felt a bit uneasy about leaving the third guy behind to pack up the kitchen.  After four hours, we returned to find that only my dishes and some of the glassware had been packed.  In other words, I paid $120 to pack up less that 30 dollars worth of dishes.  It now became apparent that he was most likely helping himself to my watches, rings and other jewelry.

If anything is damaged while moving they are supposed to cover you. I had furniture that was gouged. The refrigerator handle was ripped off and the fridge itself was dented. I spent a month trying to contact the company to get resolution but always got an answering machine and no one contacted me. I signed the contract with them which covered me if anything was damaged. I had a couple of antique pieces that were ruined. There was also damage to the house and just no response from them at all. The young men (college students) took photographs of the damage and that when I called they would have the photos there, but no one ever answered or ever responded.

I have already used their service in the past and will continue to recommend them. Their staff is very helpful and careful. Even though moving is pretty expensive these day, they offer competitive prices.

It cost $100+ more than I was quoted on the phone. They were nice, but not as fast as I would have liked. Also pressured me for a tip from the start.

This was my 8th and worst moving nightmare of my life. The packers, who were the same as the drivers, didn't want to pack. 3 cabinets in the kitchen were not packed. Didn't bring enough wardrobes. I was quoted a 36 foot truck a 24 ft truck showed up. Quoted 3 workers, got 2. (I had asked whether they needed two trucks.) End result was the moving took two days. Extensive damage to contents, walls, rugs. Movers were so tired to things up instead of down. They said they would do it all in one day and so had a hodge podge of stuff on the truck not including my open first boxes. They left tape everywhere, both the rolls and strips from unpacking. Price was over double the estimate. They charged for time when they had to repack a box that leaked. They charged time for lunch, they charged time for arguing with their supervisors, and they charged a second insurance when the load went into the second day. JUST AWFUL and UNPROFESSIONAL.

I FEEL THAT THIS COMPANY TOOK A LOT MORE TIME THAN WHAT WAS NEEDED. THEY WERE PAID BY THE HOUR. THEY DID DENT A WALL OF THE HOUSE WE WERE RENTING, SO WE HAD TO PATCH THAT AT THE LAST MINUTE. WE THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS DIRTY.

I FOUND THE EXPERIENCE TO BE VERY EXASPERATING. THEY WERE ABOUT THREE HOURS LATE IN ARRIVING FOR THE MOVE. THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR THE TRUCK DRIVER. A FEW OF OUR POSSESSIONS WERE BROKEN. I DID WRITE A LETTER AND GOT ABOUT AN $85 REFUND.

They did a good job & are very quick. They use some students to help & they are pretty cautious. They did not have to do any packing, but did a great job moving us. They could be a little more organized; however, they were very enthusiastic about the job.
