MO/JAS Construction

This experience has been a living nightmare. The contract timeline was 14 days, and we fired MO/JAS 5 weeks later for failure to perform - this was 3 weeks past the original deadline and 1 week past the extended deadline. On the day that they were fired they had failed their 5 inspection and had not completed the vast majority of the work - the floors had not been closed and the cripple walls had not even been started. MO/JAS Construction failed to follow even the simplest building specifications. A recent site visit and report by a building engineer firm revealed the true extent of the deviations - neither the foundation or under the floor framing work was done according to plans. The inspection records also reveal that the window and door framing in multiple areas will need to be either reinforced or completely demolished and reconstructed. The flashing was not installed properly and the stucco preparation will need to be corrected in most areas. The electrical work also violates the code. Across the board, the workmanship was shoddy at best, and hazardous at worst. The day after they were fired, the owner Mark C Williams entered the property without consent and stole materials from the job site - including redwood and stringers that had been cut for the landing and staircase. We have lost thousands of dollars, having paid 71% of the total contract fee and will have to pay thousands more to correct and finish the job - including additional engineering consulting fees, special inspections and contractor fees. His report called their work "defective" and that the evidence demonstrated "extremely poor workmanship."
