Technician check things out but if anything needs to be done, there is a charge for it.  I know they need to make money, but not even a discount for having bought a maintenance plan?!  The biggest complaint I have is the $200.00 doesn't cover cleaning the Electronic Air cleaner which is difficult to remove and put back.  I'm a senior and have little arm and shoulder strength.  You would think the company would consider this service part of the maintenance or at least be part of customer service for situations like this. This company has lost connection with their customer needs and that the customers are what keeps them in business. Their secretary/receptionist needs to learn how to treat the customers with respect as well.

Since we M&M on many occasions to fix the unit they installed and it was still not working correctly we called another company (Spirit Heating & Air) to come look at our unit.  At first glance they noticed the wrong propane adapter/converter was installed on our unit, this also caused a lot of soot to build up in our unit.  (Yes, I looked at our original installation bill from M&M they did charge us for a propance adapter/conversion kit)  Spirit installed the correct adapter and cleaned out the soot and our unit is working properly for the 1st time since it was installed (over 2 yrs).  Using M&M ended up costing us over $1300 in service calls and repairs to our unit that they caused (over $670 pd to M&M for service calls/repairs that did nothing and $660 to Spirit for correct part and installation and clean-up).  Moral of the story,  do not go to M&M Heating and Air unless you like to waste money and enjoy terrrible customer service.  But we highly recommend Spriit Heating and Air located in Ripon.

M&M came out a few days later and said the gas valve had to be replaced.  They charge us and we paid $129 ($89 for Diagnostic / trip charge & $40 for labor).  They did not have the valve in stock so they returned 6 days later and replaced the gas valve (charged us and we paid $253 to install the new gas valve).  We decided to run the heater to make sure it was working properly.  It worked once then did the same thing.  We called them again, they decided it was the thermostat, even though we told them exactly how we checked that out and it could not be the problem but they replace it anyway.  Sure enough the problem was still happening, so we called them again. They came out decided it was something else (I am unsure what this part was, I think it was a chip)  but they had to order that too.  They came out and replaced that but did not notify us of what they did.  Then on 3/4/11 we received a 3/1/11 invoice from them (it had been at least a couple weeks since they came out the last time) for $356 ($89 diagnostic fee & $267 White-Rodgers Thermostat).  My husband called him to dispute this invoice.  They became very upset with us and very unprofessional because we disagreed with paying another diagnostic fee and for a thermostat that did not need to be replaced (that could be purchased elsewhere for $57.  To make matters worse our heater will work sometimes and sometimes not.  They did send us a revised invoice for $281 with a $75 credit.  (They have billed us a total of  $663 for an issue that is not resolved) We are going to try to find some other company to help us that is why we joined AngiesList.  We would not recommend M&M (Malmquist Mechanical Inc.) or use them again!

Our A/C unit quit cooling our house, I contacted this vendor because they are an authorized Carrier dealer in my area. The tech came on-site, hooked a gauge up to my unit and stated it didn't have any pressure. Quoted $800 for a weld and recharge repair, with $450 for refrigerant. Called 3 more vendors who quoted around $20 / lb for R22, this company was quoting $45 / lb for R22 refrigerant. Paid him the estimate fee and sent him on his way. Found another company who will charge $80/hr and $20/lb, I will write a review of them after the job is done.

We were afraid the AC had finally given out considering its age. The technition arrived on time, was personable, and knowledgeable. He was here less than an hour.
