TERRIBLE -AWFUL - DID NOT FINISH JOB! Two Sugar Bear employees installed a dishwasher for me on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021. The installation & haul away cost me $732.00, more than the dishwasher itself, plus tips that I now deeply regret. I have never received a receipt for the expense. There is a SERIOUS PROBLEM with the dishwasher "installation" performed by Sugar Bear: THE DISHWASHER WILL NOT DRAIN. There is now standing water in it, and I can't use it. When I called on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 for assistance, the installer called me back and said he'd done the installation correctly and it was not his problem; he said that it was Samsung's problem. However, this is NOT true! It IS Sugar Bear's problem and responsibility. SAMSUNG advises that if the dishwasher does not drain, there are two installation actions that should have been done. The Sugar Bear employees FAILED to perform these 2 ACTIONS while installing the dishwasher: 1.) making a "high loop" in the drain hose and 2.) connecting the hose to an air gap. The installers did NOT perform the dishwasher installation correctly. I am very unhappy about this situation, and I believe that the installation must be completed by Sugar Bear without further expense on my part. The installation on Tuesday was not done correctly, plus they left a chip out of my counter. I chose this company because of good reviews on Yelp, but Sugar Bear refuses to finish the job I paid so much for, and the company is ignoring my requests. They get a big zero for customer service. Update to review of 12/27/2021: Lawrence Smith, manager of Sugar Bear Plumbing Co, saw my review of my terrible experience with the faulty dishwasher installation, and called me to say that "this was not who they (Sugar Bear) were" and he would make it right for me. On Thursday, 01/27/2022, Lawrence did make it right. He installed the air gap that should have been installed on 12/27/2021, he installed a new kitchen faucet that I had purchased, and then tested the dishwasher. I now have a functional dishwasher! Thank you, Lawrence, for assuring me of Sugar Bear's integrity and for following through by holding your company accountable. The deep scratch on my wood floor, caused by Sugar Bear's employees dragging the old dishwasher down the hall, still requires remedy by Sugar Bear; Lawrence has promised to take care of it.

Overall the quality was good. The price is expensive.

Lawrence of Sugar Bear Plumbing has done several jobs for us.  The most recent was a bathroom remodel.  It's a tight spot but we're very happy with the end results.  He was receptive to our needs and last minute changes.  He is primarily a plumber and works with others to do the tile work, painting, etc.  We were especially happy with the plumbing job, the framing, and the tile work.  The paint job was contracted out.  Price was an issue and we got what we paid for on the paint job.  I can't actually remember when we had the job done.  However we're still happy with it.  He also replumbed our house.  No issues there.  If we needed a plumber or to do plubming work, I would call him again. 

WOW!! I never thought I would work with a person in business that was conscientious and took his work so importantly that he would stay late to make sure everything was done right. Lawrence came back and double checked that everything was cleaned up and done properly for city codes. The city passed all the work that he did with flying colors. He really values his workmanship. He encountered many problems during the job, but handled himself professionally. He remained calm and collected. He did a wonderful job. He has updated equipment and used a camera to look into the pipe.

He did an adequate job, but it wasn't finished - it was still leaking after we got a lot of rain. He thought he had taken care of it, but it was still leaking and he wasn't taking my calls. His office answered their calls, but I guess they didn't get ahold of him. He was nice, just not reliable. I had to call someone else to finish it.

Being an old house, there were a lot of issues that came up (e.g. where to put the waste drains). This was not a do-it-yourself project and we're glad we hired someone with Lawrence’s experience. He handled the issues creatively, finding ways around what appeared to be major obstacles. The project took longer than anticipated but a good part of that was our own indecision about what we wanted. Wavering over the style of sink, picking out tile, etc. took much longer than expected and certainly led to delays in the project. I would most definitely recommend Lawrence and Sugar Bowl Plumbing and would use him again on projects at my own home. He is reasonably priced and does a good job. He contracts out areas that are not his expertise including tile work, electrical and painting. My biggest tip to new customers. Be clear about what you want and what you expect as far as design and finishes. Don't expect Sugar Bear Plumbing or their contractors to be able to intuit what you want. If you don't like brass door fixtures or halogen lights, make that clear in the beginning. Also, work out the major design and style issues before starting the project. Our hemming and hawing over sink styles (pedestal, bowl, or cabinet) and picking out tile led to delays in the project. Lawrence is great at the building side of things – he knows his stuff and has all the necessary tools and equipment. If you are particular about design or don't know what you want, you might want to include a designer in the project. Overall we’re very happy with the bathroom project and feel that we got our monies worth by using Sugar Bear Plumbing. I would recommend Sugar Bear Plumbing and would not hesitate to use them in the future. Lawrence is really easy to work with, listens to what you have to say, and is a nice guy.
